?? Just returned from an extraordinary week at #WEF2025 in Davos, where AI and the shifting US political landscape took center stage. The timing couldn't have been more relevant for Transcend Fund as a leading investor in digital entertainment - TikTok was in the headlines and the gaming industry was often mentioned as one of the earliest adopters of AI. Some of the highlights this year included: * Dinner with William Dalrymple, whose new book "The Golden Road" illuminates ancient India's profound impact on world history. * Meeting Martin Wolf, the Chief Economics Commentator at the Financial Times whose column I have read for years. * Joining Bloomberg’s networking events including a live TV interview with Ruth Porat, CIO at Alphabet & Google, an important AI partner for some of Transcend’s portfolio companies like Cosmic Lounge. * The Future House hosted interesting panels on digital media's societal impact, particularly regarding youth development. Drawing from my 14 years in China, I shared perspectives on the proactive policy approaches that the PRC has implemented to balance innovation with responsibility. * Particularly satisfying was reconnecting with members of the Vietnam's delegation to the WEF that was led by the Prime Minister and key government and business leaders.?It is impressive to see Vietnam’s rising global influence since the time I spent there as Citi’s Country Officer from 2008-13. * Finally, I enjoyed meeting friends and former colleagues at the Citi and JPMorgan receptions, and thrilled to announce that Transcend. will again co-host with JPMorgan our CxO Mixer at GDC in San Francisco this March! The convergence of AI, gaming, and global policy at Davos reinforced my conviction: we're at the cusp of a transformative era in digital entertainment.
