Pictured is Navy veteran Charles "Chuck" Fleming, who acquired the name and rights to Trans-United in 1978 with his wife Ami. Chuck's father served in WW2 and was injured by a mortar on the beaches of Okinawa while Chuck was a teenager who helped maintain the family farm in Clintwood, VA. Chuck served in the Navy after WWII, patrolling the Mediterranean to oversee the rebuilding of Europe and engage in diplomatic relations with foreign entities. Chuck is the father of current Trans-United President, Jeff Fleming and he is still with us today at 94 years old. To all veterans who served to protect this nation, thank you.

You've seen them on the road, but do you know what a Conestoga trailer is? Conestoga trailers are typically flatbed or step deck trailers with a rolling tarp system that covers the deck. The benefit is that the freight is protected from the elements without a tarp physically touching the cargo. The downside is this setup reduces the width and height of freight that can be loaded onto the trailer deck by a couple of inches. Thank you for watching Episode 13 of Tuesdays With T-U. It has been a pleasure to take you into the world of specialized hauling!
