Reuben Trane co-founded The Trane Company in 1913. As a University of Wisconsin engineering student, he captained the rowing team and helped found the Wisconsin Union. In the 1920s, he revolutionized HVAC by developing the finned-tube heat exchanger and the Trane Heat Cabinet, earning 32 patents by his death in 1954.
