On Halloween, Trailnet partnered with Goetz Group to make some preliminary designs for some safe pedestrian crossings in Hillsboro around Business 21 highway and Leon Hall Parkway. This highway averages over 10,000 vehicle trips per day and yet has NO pedestrian crosswalks despite the fact that it runs through 5 Hillsboro R-3 schools. The City of Hillsboro and the R-3 school districts are trying to increase the safety of these students and the community, and we at Trailnet are trying to expand these efforts. We have an online survey that we encourage the community to take to get feedback on how they think can help make Hillsboro safer for all street users. Take the survey here: https://lnkd.in/g4ypEdxt

One month ago today, we had a great time orchestrating a Bicycle Education event with Hickey Elementary School and the KingsVille neighborhood for National Night Out! "The goal of National Night Out is to bring members of the community together with law enforcement, fire fighters, and EMS to develop and build lasting relations to engender the safety for all especially in crisis situation. What better place to start this work than at the elementary school. That is why KingsVille is very intentional in hosting this annual event with Hickey Elementary School; our community anchor."
