Partner at TMV investing in the Future of Care

I had the pleasure of speaking with?Brian Gormley?at?The Wall Street Journal?about the transformative role of AI in healthcare. At?TMV we are actively investing in companies harnessing this technology to drive meaningful change—advancing personalization (Novellia, Roon), improving clinical outcomes (Millie, Preveta), and optimizing workflows through automation (Weave, Tali AI, In-House Health), among many other innovations. In closing the piece, I shared our optimism about AI’s impact on the industry: “With AI, I think we’re going to see a growing number of acquirers in this space,” said Emma Silverman, a partner with venture investor TMV. “We’re going to see more rapid acceleration of meaningful scale that is going to create more acquisition pathways.” We remain bullish on the intersection of AI and healthcare and are eager to hear from founders who are building the future of this space. Let’s connect!

In a world of accelerating technological progress and big cultural shifts, "The Future of Work" has become more of a catchphrase than a concrete idea. So when investors or journalists throw it around, my eyes glaze over. Don't yours? But here's the thing: there isn't anything dull about the past, current or future state of "work" (as defined by the proto-agricultural practices of our sweet, culty Paleolithic ancestors. Shout out to anyone who has read "The Chalice and the Blade" and obsessed over dominator vs partnership models of productivity!!!) The TL;DR is that artificial intelligence is here, AGI on our doorstep and the power tug of war of suits screaming for a return to office and flip flops shouting back "so, stop me!" is a little yawn and missing the plot. "The Future of Work" will be transformative, wild, dystopian, utopian, ALL THE THINGS! And the shift in how we define work, value work, charge for work, relate to work will lead to the underpinnings of what my friend Professor?Brigitte Seim calls "Social Cohesion." Societal glue. Why does this matter to an early-stage VC? At?TMV , we're developing an understanding for what an AI centric, optimistic lens on the future could look like. Working title "Work in Progress," and we're actively placing bets on the?most?ambitious companies building a nice vision of our shared future. Our investment thesis centers on entrepreneurs coding scalable, AI-native solutions to address modern work-life challenges with a lens toward the common good. Specifically, we're backing companies that: - Are led by the right teams (Anthropic)??? - Creating net-positive outcomes in stodgy and costly industries (Weave, Resultid.ai) ?? - Support the sustainable growth of indie workers (Topline Pro)?????♀? - Aid workplace burnout (In-House Health, Tali AI, Clockwise) ???? As work becomes increasingly independent yet AI-dependent, founders need partners (????? ?) who inherently understand the civil shifts in play as well as the money-making opportunities. At?TMV , we're not only observers of "the coming wave" —we're eager beta participants, who believe in the upside of what partnership models and a reduction of task-based, time consuming efforts could lead to... Enhancing human capability, creativity and output to make room for caring for ourselves and others is worth fighting for. That's our stance. The call-to-action is to ask founders building at the intersection of AI and good to look us up. [email protected] - pre-seed through Series A, dry powder, deploying now. Or share thoughts below. Ok, thanks for reading! #FutureOfWork?#VentureCapital?#WorkforceInnovation?#TMV?#AI?#AGI?#Entrepreneurship?#Founders?#CommonGood?#ImpactInvesting

Kudos to Daniel Langer and Jeremy Schneck! Trackstar has truly redefined the game, now leading the way in universal APIs for warehouse management systems—and they’re just getting started with vertical integration. TMV is proud to have been an investor in Trackstar from the very beginning, and we’re looking forward to continuing to support them as they grow at an extraordinary pace! ?? #Trackstar #SupplyChainInnovation #Ecommerce #VC #Logistics Soraya Darabi Joshua Gold Emma Silverman Timothy Shey Azzi Agnelli

    Co-Founder at Trackstar (YC W23)

2 years ago, Jeremy Schneck and I were building a completely different product. We were trying to create "Datadog for e-commerce" - monitoring and alerting for brands when their checkout flows broke or marketing emails had dead links. But something wasn't clicking. The pain wasn't acute enough. When we talked to brands about their real challenges, they kept mentioning inventory and operations issues. They'd say: "Can you connect to our warehouse and get that data? We'd ask which system they used, and after talking to 20 brands, we got 20 different answers. My first thought was: "No way. Building 20 different integrations sounds like a nightmare." We literally joked that "someone should build a Plaid for supply chain" but we didn't want to be the ones to do it. Fast forward to joining YC. A few weeks in, Paul Graham gave a talk that changed everything: "Raise your hand if you're pivoting." Half the batch raised their hands. Then he said: "You probably already thought of the idea you're going to pivot into. You're not doing it for one of three reasons: 1. You think it's too hard 2. You think it's crazy 3. You don't know how it'll make money" It hit us like a ton of bricks. The "Plaid for supply chain" idea we'd dismissed as too difficult kept coming back. So we started making calls to validate the idea. Would software companies pay for a universal API to warehouse systems? The answer was a resounding YES. We built Trackstar, our universal API from scratch, onboarded dozens of customers, raised $2.5M in seed funding, and 18 months later we’re growing faster than ever. Just keep going.

Partner at TMV investing in the Future of Care

When I joined TMV over four years ago, my career had been all about solving consumer problems—building high-growth brands from the ground up, leading GTM strategies, and driving consumer insights and product innovation. As I transitioned into investing, I asked myself: What’s the most meaningful problem I can help solve right now? The answer was clear: healthcare. I grew up in a family of physicians, but I never imagined I’d work in healthcare (I’m squeamish!). That changed when I realized healthcare is one of the most pressing consumer challenges of our time. Listening to my dad, Paul Silverman, talk about his work, I saw firsthand the power of truly patient-centered care—when someone has an advocate in their corner, it changes everything. Yet, throughout my career, I’ve also seen how many barriers prevent people from accessing the care they deserve. Today, I’m proud to partner with founders who are driving innovation in healthcare and tackling some of the industry’s toughest challenges—from expanding access to quality care to improving the experience of those who power the healthcare system. For me, this work is deeply personal. It’s been incredibly rewarding to take best practices from the consumer sector and apply them to healthcare—following in my family’s footsteps in a way I never expected, helping to build solutions that truly impact lives. If you're working at the intersection of healthcare and technology, I’d love to connect and learn more about what you’re building!

Loved speaking at the Atlantic Maritime Tech Conference at Newlab in the Brooklyn Navy Yard last week — a gathering of around 300 forward-thinkers exploring how technology is reshaping the maritime landscape. The maritime sector is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the need for more sustainable practices, greater operational efficiency, and stronger security frameworks. The global maritime technology market is projected to reach $345 billion by 2030, fueled by advancements in AI, IoT, and automation. Discussions on AI-powered logistics, autonomous systems, sustainable practices, efficiency, and cybersecurity highlighted just how much potential exists to revolutionize global shipping — with AI alone expected to improve operational efficiency by up to 60% in the coming years. Thanks to my co-hosts Sean Simons, Sammie Hasen, Pete Mathias, Drew W., Ryan Musto and the event sponsors Aprio, Gunderson Dettmer, and Silicon Valley Bank. A special shout out to my panel moderator Sean Simons (twice in one month!) for bringing together an inspiring group and to my fellow panelists Jonathan Chia, Stephen Lyman, and Geoff Douglass for an insightful exchange. Also great to see TMV portfolio company Nodal Networks on stage and hear Paul Albert-Lebrun talk about how technology is reshaping ports, logistics, and infrastructure to adapt to global trade shifts. On top of that, I had the opportunity to catch up with Kenji Togasaki from Iino Lines, one of TMV’s valued Limited Partners. His presence at the event highlights the strong partnerships we’re building within the maritime and logistics ecosystem. Looking forward to what’s next as innovation continues to accelerate in this space. #MaritimeTech #InnovationInShipping #SustainableLogistics #FutureOfShipping #VCInsights Kenji Togasaki

Partner at TMV investing in the Future of Care

As an early-stage healthcare investor, I spend a lot of time thinking about problems and solutions, but just as much thinking about how great ideas come to life. In healthcare, the “how“ is often just as hard as building the science, technology, or product itself. Driving meaningful change requires coordination and buy-in from stakeholders across the ecosystem—providers, health systems, payers, biopharma, and beyond.? One of the things I love most about this space is that innovation can’t happen in a vacuum. The most impactful healthcare startups deeply understand this, building with collaboration at their core. That’s why last week’s Annual TMV Care Dinner felt so special. We brought together a tremendous group of founders, limited partners, co-investors, industry leaders, journalists, and experts for an evening of thoughtful conversation, connection, and partnership. We had an incredible time, and now comes the best part: seeing what takes shape from here. Grateful to everyone who joined – TMV portfolio founders (Roon, Novellia, Fabric Health, Tali AI, Weave, In-House Health, Elion, Banquet Health, Tinyhood, Inc., Ours Privacy and more), LPs, and collaborators – thanks for making it a great night.? A special thank you to our wonderful partners at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati and team TMV: Soraya Darabi Marina Hadjipateras Azzi Agnelli Timothy Shey Darshan Somashekar Evan Wray Bailey DeVries Joshua Gold Justin Kazmark David Waldman Sean Villafranca.? Sharing a few moments captured by the talented Karen Obrist.?Looking forward to keeping this conversation going.
