??Governer Jared Polis and Arnold Ventures just launched the Colorado Partnership for Proven Programs, a $20M effort to scale evidence-based workforce and postsecondary programs. Colorado Equitable Economic Mobility Initiative (CEEMI), our amazing administrative partner, played a key role in this effort, including bringing the proven CUNY ASAP model to Colorado to help more community college students graduate and earn more.?This launch is a huge opportunity to prioritize what works—even in a tough budget year. Through our Administrative Partnership Program, we support projects and start-ups like CEEMI to provide the infrastructure and guidance they need to grow and make an impact. Our administrative partners can fully leverage our back-office services and build skills to expand their administrative capacity while maintaining full control over their projects.? ? Under Jonathan McMillan’s steadfast leadership, Trailhead’s Firearm-Related Harm & Violence Prevention (FHVP) Program Office has made impactful strides to strengthen statewide efforts to reduce firearm-related harm. Thanks to the dedication of community leaders, researchers, government partners, public health advocates, philanthropists, and our Trailhead colleagues, we've laid a strong foundation to bridge gaps in coordination and collaboration where it's needed most. This work wouldn’t be possible without the passion and commitment of so many. As we move into Year 2, we’re navigating changes to ensure our efforts remain sustainable while continuing to foster meaningful statewide engagement to prevent harm from firearm-related incidents in Colorado. Read more about how FHVP is evolving below.
Youth & Gun Violence Prevention & Community Violence Intervention Expert | Over 30 Years of Experience
Transitions in leadership don’t mean transitions in commitment. For the past year, I’ve led work that built real infrastructure for firearm-related harm prevention in Colorado. We connected public health with the communities most impacted, identified the gaps, and pushed for solutions rooted in strategy, not slogans. But the reality of this work? It’s constantly evolving. Funding landscapes shift. Politics get in the way. And those of us committed to real change have to be nimble, creative, and relentless. That’s why as my full-time role at Trailhead Institute comes to an end, my work in this space does not. Although my career is taking me to a national stage -- I will continue to push for better policy, smarter funding, and stronger strategies— especially here in Colorado because this is my home. If you’re in this fight—whether through community-based work, policy, public health, or research—let’s connect. The work ahead is too important to do alone. #ViolencePrevention #PublicHealth
