Social Intelligence skills accelerate our human capabilities and set us apart from artificial intelligence. But, similar to technical skills, they do not come naturally to most of us. We are hindered by cognitive biases that distort how we Think, Act, and React to the world around us, affecting our performance. All people are affected by cognitive biases. Why? As our brains develop, we look for quick interpretations of events and easy solutions to problems so we don’t have to expend too much energy thinking about what we’re doing. Thinking is hard work; our brains consume approximately 20% of the body’s energy daily. These patterns of behavior and thinking become habits. This makes life easier and conserves energy, but the side effect is that we often make mistakes and poor decisions without realizing it. Dad, Mentor, Leadership Developer, and Social Intelligence Geek whose purpose is to educate and support others, so they experience more success and less stress.
SOCIAL STYLE & Versatility in Manhattan, New York City with 48 auditors with a large financial & insurance company. Their leader said they are too nice and need to learn how to push and have productive conflict. They tend to avoid conflict and it bubbles up in other areas. Their SOCIAL STYLE dynamics make a lot of sense: * 9 are Driving Style * 13 are Expressive Style * 17 are Amiable Style * 9 are Analytical Style When it comes to conflict and stress . . . * Driving Styles become impatient and controlling * Expressive Styles become defensive and confrontational * Amiable Styles will agree when they disagree and vent to people they are comfortable with * Analytical Styles will become inflexible and withdraw With the majority of their team being Amiable it makes sense that their may be a perception of niceness, lack of pushing and conflict avoidance. But generally speaking in the workplace, it's safer to avoid it than it is to take it head on. Not very many people are naturally productive with conflict. But we can learn about ourselves and others and work together to manage it more productively. It's a journey we are all on. #SOCIALSTYLE TRACOM Group

List your most important relationships and actions you have taken lately that either build or weaken each relationship. Actions that weaken relationships take on more weight than actions that strengthen them (humans have a negativity bias that causes us to focus more intently on negative events than on positive events). Because of this, it takes at least three positive actions to counteract the effects of a negative action. Try to always outweigh the bad with many more good things.
