I've gotten to pivot my love of Track & Field (specifically Throws) into fun media stuff in the last few years, thanks to my title as Throws Ambassador for TrackTown USA! I wanted to share this piece I wrote prior to Paris: 21-year-old Mykolas Alekna broke the 38-year-old World Record in the men's discus in April, at a meet I had the honor of officiating in Ramona, Oklahoma. Spoiler alert, he didn't win Paris, but he's more than okay! I have a bigger, more official role with Throw Town Ramona's World Athletics Bronze meet in 2025, and I'm pumped to keep growing in both of these roles. They both provide me with the right kind of discomfort: I have athletic experience to draw on, but the sport feels like it's expanding in front of my eyes as I learn all the ways I can contribute to it, and I'm enjoying rising to the challenge of being my best in those new avenues. I hope all the athletes are having a wonderful off-season! I'm over here at work for ya! https://lnkd.in/gNakjkfd

During this year's World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru, members of our staff had the opportunity to connect with the event's team as part of World Athletics' Future Organizers Program. ? As we continue our planning for the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships here in our Eugene and Springfield community, these learning opportunities are invaluable. I just got back from an incredible experience at the 2024 World Athletics U20 Championships in Peru, where I was part of the Future Organizers Program with World Athletics. It was an amazing opportunity to connect with so many talented individuals and gain insights that will be invaluable as we prepare to host the U20 World Athletics Championships in 2026 in Eugene! It’s wild to think back to 2014 - I had friends competing in Eugene when the U20 Championships were last held there. Now, being part of the team that will bring it back is something I’m very excited about. My role at TrackTown USA focuses on leading athlete services, and this event will be a unique challenge as I anticipate expanding our scope to "team services," given the role member federations play in this event. I’m beyond excited to dive into the planning cycle—not just for this year’s events (looking at you, 50th iteration of the The Prefontaine Classic!)—but also for the 2026 U20 Championships. My goal? To make this the best iteration yet, with a focus on creating an unforgettable experience for athletes, their teams, and everyone involved.

A month ago I had the amazing opportunity to work with TrackTown USA during the US Track & Field Olympic Trials in my hometown of Eugene, Oregon. Reflecting on my incredible experience, I am filled with gratitude and pride. As a member of the street team, I had the opportunity to facilitate live fan activations that brought the excitement of the trials to the community. Engaging with young fans, sharing the heartfelt stories of lifelong supporters on social media, and supporting athlete hospitality operations allowed me to witness firsthand the impact and spirit of world-class athletes. One of the highlights was helping organize a TrackTown Kids Club clinic where kids got to learn several events from Olympians themselves. Seeing the joy and inspiration of young aspiring athletes as they interacted with the best athletes in the world was truly rewarding. My favorite part of the week was seeing the impact of women in sports. From fans lining up to get autographs from Sha'Carri Richardson to seeing young girls pose in front of posters with their favorite athletes, the love for women's sports was thriving. I am excited to take this experience with me as I continue to contribute to the world of sports with passion! Thank you to John Brewer and Alexis Evans for this opportunity! #TeamUSA #TrackTownUSA #OlympicTrials #WomenInSports
