In 2023, Puerto Rico joined 14 states by adding protections to survivors?of domestic violence, including?House Bill (PC) 731, which would provide victims with an electronic abuser detection app that operates through the global positioning system (GPS) or other technologies that notify them of the proximity of an abuser who is wearing an electronic bracelet and against whom a protection order is in place. At Track Group, we're proud to have introduced the first proximity warning app for victims of domestic violence. The Empower app creates a “mobile” geo-zone around a victim's phone and works in conjunction with the abuser's GPS monitoring bracelet. This allows Empower and and local law enforcement to provide a reliable, early warning notification and intervention to the victim if the abuser's GPS bracelet is determined to be in violation of no-contact orders.
