Promise is a joyful young girl, despite the many challenges her family has faced. For her recent birthday, a party just for her wasn’t something her family could plan. But with help from Metro Kidz, Promise’s neighborhood friends came together to celebrate her special day, complete with new toys just for her. That one day meant everything to Promise and her family—it was a moment of love, joy, and a break from life’s hardships. For most of us, a common cold means a few days at home, resting up. But for 7-year-old Jordan, it means another trip to the hospital—one he's unfortunately all too familiar with. Jordan had a heart transplant as a young child, so any illness can quickly turn into a serious situation requiring a hospital stay. Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in the Bronx has become a second home for him, but the experience doesn’t get any easier. Each visit means missing school, missing friends, and facing the challenges of hospitalization at such a young age. One of the few things that brings comfort and joy to Jordan during these stays is access to play. Play lets him process his emotions, continue to learn and grow, and most importantly, just be a kid. We’re working to raise $25,000 by year’s end to ensure that more children facing hospitalization can find comfort and laughter, even during the hardest times. Beacon Media Group hosted an employee-driven fundraiser, with support from Future Today Inc, to present Montefiore Health System Children's Hospital with funding to provide the babies and families in their NICU with the tools and care they need to heal.
