?? It's Pet Poison Awareness Week: March 16-22 Common household items, such as chocolate, plants, and medications—can be highly poisonous to pets. Our partner, ToxiPets by Chivelab, Inc., has identified these top pet toxins. ???? While many pet poisonings can be avoided with a bit of preparation, pet accidents and emergencies can happen in an instant—and vet bills can add up quickly. Pet insurance helps ensure pets get the care they need in the event of an accidental ingestion. #petinsurance #petpoisonawareness #odiepetinsurance #poison #dogs #cats #pets #petcare #petowners #petparents #pethealth

We are releasing our new version this week with over 800k cleansed data points to browse. Stay tuned :)
Getting creative with prompt engineering. Can you tell AI to tell the other AI what to generate? At ToxiPets by Chivelab, Inc., we just expanded our plant dataset to include 95,000 species, but we faced a big challenge: how do we prioritize which plants are most relevant and how to source images for them? We created algorithms that analyzed sources like Wikipedia, iNaturalist, and GBIF to find out how often a plant is mentioned, how many photos exist, and whether it has a Wiki page. That gave us a clear picture of the most popular and important species to start with. But the real hurdle? Rare plants. DALLE couldn’t generate images because it didn’t know what they looked like, and 90% of our dataset had Non-Commercial licenses, so sourcing wasn’t an option. So, we got creative. We built a script to pull descriptions from Wikipedia and iNaturalist and used GPT to craft prompts, and then generated images with DALLE that closely resemble the real plants. This was a true test of letting AI work together to solve a problem—and it worked.

?? Exciting News from ToxiPets by Chivelab, Inc.! This quarter, we're working on an "Explain Like I Am 5" feature to make understanding pet safety even easier. We're starting by aggregating over half a million recipes and analyzing their top ingredients to explain what to watch for. ?? Exciting News from ToxiPets! ?? We're thrilled to announce a major update to our roadmap this quarter: adding safe items to our pet safety database! ???? We started with a massive list of 180K unique ingredients and, through rigorous cleaning, deduplication, and NLP synonym generation, we've streamlined it to 47K. Some ingredients needed special handling, like: "Chicken and Turkey (1.8% each)" -> [chicken, turkey] "Contains Less Than 2% Cream" -> [cream] While VBA scripts in Excel helped us automate repetitive tasks, Python emerged as our go-to for handling large datasets efficiently and leveraging powerful AI capabilities. Generative AI is a game-changer for us, providing detailed ingredient descriptions and product examples. It’s helping us enhance the quality and reliability of our database, ensuring your pets' safety. Stay tuned for more updates and thank you for supporting ToxiPets in making the world safer for our furry friends! ???? #ToxiPets #PetSafety #AI #DataScience #Innovation #PetCare #TechUpdate #NLP #Python #GenerativeAI #SafePets

Stay tune for the big release in May: - Toxicity Calculator - New ranking algo for the toxins We can't wait :)
**Help name our new toxicity ranking algorithm** This quarter at ToxiPets by Chivelab, Inc., we are working on the user interviews and the feedback we have gotten. While our user base loves our advanced search capabilities (vision intelligence & LLM capabilities), they want us to center our focus around the DVM research and put our knowledge base at the center of everything. That has made us focus on redesigning the experience and we realized we need to come up with a better way of ranking toxins in real world. We have 2800+ toixins (plants, medications, food, household items, ...) and they all vary on how toxic they are. If a plant kills your dog, but is found only in the mountains of Kilimanjaro that no dog gets into it, then it won't be much useful to put at the top of the list to look into it. Here is a sneak pick into SOME OF THE parameters that are going to the ranking algorithm: - Toxicity: inherent toxicity level of a substance, indicating how harmful it can be to pets upon ingestion or exposure - Common Occurrence: how frequently a toxin is encountered in the environment or household settings where pets reside. - Ease of Access: how easily pets can come into contact with the toxin. Toxins that are readily accessible to pets, such as those found in household products or within reach, pose higher risk - Potential Long-Term Effect: Some toxins may not cause immediate symptoms but can lead to chronic health issues, organ damage, or other complications over time, even at lower exposure levels We would like to eventually add mortality rate & a few other parameters to the equation. For that, we need to partner with urgent cares and other research institutes. ETA for release is end of May and I feel like a kid in the candy shop ?? #pets #ai #data?
