Our own study found #PFAS in 100% of tested breast milk, with detections doubling every four years. It's time to ban #PFAS in ALL products and follow the lead of states like WA, MN, CA and others that have banned #PFAS in personal care products to protect the health of women and babies! https://bit.ly/3Z2vR6z

From Outside: "Without regulations to end the use of harmful chemicals and prevent them from being recycled, toxic flame retardants will continue to enter our homes through the back door and show up in products.” https://lnkd.in/gsRraQ2m

Great coverage from CNN of our 2024 Retailer Report Card! Our report found that major retailers are not doing enough to protect consumers from hazardous chemicals and plastics in the products they sell, earning an average grade of D+. #MindTheStore https://lnkd.in/gBD_Kyws
Toxic chemical ‘Hall of Shame’ calls out retailers in time for holiday shopping | CNN

?? The 2024 Retailer Report Card is here! ?? As you plan your holiday shopping, find out if your favorite retailer is committed to selling safer products or if it earned a place in the 2024 Toxic Hall of Shame. ?? Using a new grading system called The Four Essential Elements for a Safer Marketplace, we evaluated the largest retailers in the U.S. and Canada and found that most are failing to protect customers from toxic chemicals and plastics in their products and packaging. The average grade was a D+. ?? Seventeen retailers earned failing grades, including 7-Eleven, Five Below, McDonald's, LL Flooring, and Sally Beauty. ?? But Apple, SEPHORA, Target, and Walmart earned top grades, demonstrating that it IS possible for retailers to restrict toxic chemicals and advance safer solutions. ??? As our recent report on recycled black plastics shows, when retailers don’t protect consumers from toxic chemicals and plastics, the results are troubling: toxic chemicals like flame retardants in our cookware, toys, take-out containers, and more. ?? Which retailer was most improved? Which sector earned the lowest scores? Which retailers were evaluated for the first time? Learn more and take action! #MindTheStore https://lnkd.in/gTvmK_vk

"Until manufacturers use safer flame-retardant compounds and laws effectively prohibit recycled electronics material from entering consumer products, these chemicals will continue circulating through our kitchens, arising and re-arising like toxic zombies." A recent study in China tested semen and urine samples from men to investigate the effects of #microplastics exposure and to identify which have the greatest impact on sperm quality. The findings highlight that exposure to microplastics is linked to reproductive health risks. Specifically, that PTFE had the greatest impact on male reproductive health adds to a growing body of evidence that the use of #PFAS in common products like non-stick cookware and outdoor apparel is dangerous for human health. This new study underscores the need for retailers and states to phase out and ban PFAS (including PTFE) and toxic plastics such as polystyrene and #PVC. https://lnkd.in/gn7f6Ait

Though some brands and states have committed to phasing out PFAS in food packaging, we "could still be getting a side of PFAS with our burger." That's why we need a national ban on #PFAS in food packaging! https://lnkd.in/gYaJXatT

From Sandee LaMotte at CNN - our new peer-reviewed study on toxic flame retardants in recycled #plastics: “We need government and corporate policies that restrict the use of these harmful chemicals like flame retardants and hazardous plastics so that we can safely recycle items without worrying about chemical contamination and our health.” https://lnkd.in/gqtXcyAG
