关于我们
Just 20 minutes from the North Carolina state capital, Raleigh, Clayton is the fastest growing town in Johnston County, an international biopharmaceutical hub and a community repeatedly recognized as one of the best, safest and most affordable places in the state and country to live and raise a family. Founded in 1869, Clayton is no longer a sleepy village along the railroad. Our dynamic business community, bustling downtown, numerous medical facilities and high-achieving schools are keeping families here and enticing new people every day. Since 2000, we’ve doubled in population – now more than 20,000 residents call Clayton home. Our largest manufacturing employer is the pharmaceutical giant Grifols, with more than 1,600 employees and a multi-million dollar expansion on the way. Last year, Novo Nordisk, a Danish insulin maker, announced a $1.85 billion expansion – that's the largest private investment in the history of North Carolina. Clayton boasts greenways, parks, a popular art sculpture trail and active arts scene. Just over a decade ago, in a showing of partnership and commitment to the community, they took abandoned school buildings and immaculately restored them into the Town Hall and the performing arts and conference center, The Clayton Center. The Law Enforcement Center, opened in 2011, is state-of-the-art and has won awards for architecture and design. All of these public buildings sit in the heart of Downtown Clayton, where free concert series, popular parades and an annual Harvest Festival attract crowds in the thousands. The community is conveniently located within a few hours of the coast and the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. The Town of Clayton is a thriving and growing community that has all the conveniences of the larger surrounding cities and still maintains a small-town atmosphere.

In Today's episode of Clayon4U, we’re mapping out the ins and outs of zoning —the system that determines how land in a community can be used. Zoning divides a town into different zones, each with specific rules about what types of buildings and activities are allowed. From homes to businesses to industry, zoning helps to organize land use in a way that promotes orderly growth, protects property values, and ensures public safety and welfare. Curious about how a property is zoned? Check out the Town’s Official Zoning Map and Unified Development Ordinances (UDO) on our website: https://lnkd.in/eGCBc7dj

Big things are happening at Clayton Community Park! Today, the Town of Clayton celebrated the completion of significant upgrades with a ribbon cutting! The brand new facilities, including 6 bocce ball courts, 6 shuffleboard courts, 4 tennis courts, and Clayton’s first pickleball courts are now officially ready for our community to enjoy. The project also includes a new playground opening soon. These upgrades reflect the final project supported by the 2019 Parks and Recreation Bond, which continues to shape and enhance Clayton’s recreational offerings. This expansion creates even more ways for residents to stay active and enjoy the great outdoors. Stop by and check out the new amenities behind the Clayton Community Center (715 Amelia Church Rd) or walk over from Clayton Community Park via the new greenway connection. Open daily from 7 AM - 10 PM! A special thank you to the Bolyard family, whose charitable spirit supported the efforts of this project. A plaque is now affixed to the bocce ball courts in honor of beloved family member, bocce ball enthusiast and North Carolina Senior Games supporter, Rochelle Harrison.

We are wrapping up our Black History Month education by highlighting our hometown Olympian, Keni Harrison. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, Harrison received a silver medal in the 100-meter hurdles. She also set the world record for women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2016 London Muller Anniversary Games with a time of 12.20 seconds. Before Harrison's international success, she was a Clayton Comet. During her time at Clayton High School, she ran track and field. Upon her return home, the Town partnered with Harrison’s alma mater to host a parade in her honor through Downtown Clayton. During this event, dozens of fans lined Main Street to show their support. The event concluded with a celebration at Clayton High where Town Council proclaimed August 24, 2021, to be Keni Harrison Day and Mayor Jody McLeod presented her with a key to the Town. “I didn’t get the start I wanted but I dug deep and fought and didn’t give up.” - Keni Harrison To learn more about Harrison’s journey and to watch the 2021 parade, visit our YouTube channel at the link below. https://lnkd.in/e8QMP-eD #BHMClaytonNC

Annual Treatment Change to Johnston County West Water System: Beginning March 1, the Johnston County Water Treatment Plant will temporarily stop feeding ammonia with chlorine for disinfection and start feeding chlorine only for all Johnston County water customers on the Johnston West water distribution system, which will affect all Town of Clayton water customers. The Town of Clayton purchases water from Johnston County Public Utilities, which is why our customers are affected by this process change. If you have any concerns or need additional information, please contact the Town of Clayton Water Resources Department at 919-553-1530. State and federal regulations require that all public water systems feed chlorine only for at least three weeks each year to ensure that no bacteria are present which may have adapted to the ammonia in the water. Customers that use kidney dialysis machines should be aware that the water will contain more chlorine for about six weeks and will return to a chlorine and ammonia mixture on or about April 14, 2025. The chlorine only water can be toxic to tropical fish. Most customers will not notice a difference in their water, but some may detect a chlorine odor and might observe a slight color change. The Town of Clayton Water Resources Department, in conjunction with the County, will conduct system wide flushing for all water distribution systems during this period to speed the removal of chloramines from the system. The flushing process may result in some minor and temporary discoloration of water that does not affect water quality. If any related issues cannot be cleared by flushing the lines inside your home, please call 919-553-1530. This map displays Town of Clayton water customers in blue and Riverwood Athletic Club customers in pink. These customers will be affected.
