"Amenities in your backyard can redirect taxes back to home" In Swansea we do all we can to grasp at state funding, via budgetary earmarks and grant funds, to bring tax dollars back to Swansea for our community members' enjoyment. We are so appreciative of Swansea's State Delegation, including former State Rep. Patricia Haddad, for securing the funds to create the bocce court. Our Facilities Management team along with our highway and parks crews helped spread this funding farther after the original earmark of $60,000 was halved due to budget cuts at the state. Swansea's Highway Department is filled with talented, hard working individuals who do so much beyond streets and sidewalks in our community. We rely on them for so much, and they have extended their work to build parks and structures within them, assist in electrical trenching, establishing access to local waterways and water resources, and so much more. This Fall River Herald nicely highlights just a few of the projects Swansea's Highway Department has completed.

We recently partnered with Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD) to study two of our main commercial corridors, Route 6 and Route 118. The study highlights key industries in Swansea, growing industries, various economic development recommendations, and possible zoning changes to review what further development could look like in Swansea. Economic development has long been a focus in Swansea to ensure a continued vibrant economy, a plethora of jobs, and balanced community with retail spaces, recreational areas, and other amenities to contribute to Swansea's charm.
