关于我们

The Town of Suffield is a diverse community of almost 16,000 people with a rich history of farming, as well as retail and commercial businesses. Suffield remains a quintessential New England town with a longstanding pledge to preserving its historic architecture and agricultural roots. Located in north-central Connecticut sixteen miles north of Hartford and ten miles south of Springfield, Massachusetts the Town covers 43 square miles on the western bank of the Connecticut River. Founded in 1670, Suffield was incorporated by Massachusetts in 1674, and annexed to Connecticut in 1749. Since the earliest days, the tobacco industry has been the greatest single continuing commercial enterprise in Suffield, in fact the first cigar factory in the country was opened in Suffield in 1810. Profits earned from tobacco were used for western land speculation and helped finance commercial ventures, including the Hartford insurance industry. The Town’s agricultural industry remains strong with dozens of working farms along with a vibrant small business sector, anchored by the Town Center District. Suffield has four banks, a diverse collection of restaurants, professional and medical offices, personal services, and specialty retail. Bradley International Airport, New England's second largest facility, is adjacent to the southern boundary of the town. Today, the Town of Suffield, operates with a budget of approximately $62 million employing approximately 150 people with an additional 350 school employees.
