Two Parker Police Officers Promoted to Sergeant Congratulations to Sergeant Herrera and Sergeant Ort on their well-deserved promotions! Family, friends, and coworkers gathered today to celebrate this significant milestone as Chief Tsurapas presented Herrera and Ort with their Sergeant badges. Parker Mayor Josh Rivero joined Town Councilmembers Anne Barrington, Erik Frandsen and Brandi Wilks to congratulate the new Sergeants. The Parker Police Department hired Sergeant Herrera in 2016, and he has excelled in both patrol and specialized roles. He served as a School Resource Officer (SRO) for the last 2.5 years, demonstrating exceptional dedication to student safety. His impressive resume includes membership on the Douglas County Regional SWAT Team, extensive training certifications (Krav Maga, Active Threat Response), and numerous commendations, culminating in a Chief's Commendation. Herrera's leadership qualities were evident during his time in our Police Training Officer program, 2022-present. He effectively supervised and mentored fellow officers after completing the 160-hour supervisory training program. His proven leadership, specialized training, and commitment to excellence make Herrera a valuable asset to the Sergeant ranks. Sergeant Ort began his career with the Parker Police Department in 2015. He started his career as a Patrol Officer, was selected for the special assignment of Detective, and has been a member of the Police Training Officer Program since 2019. As a Detective, Ort excelled in investigating complex cases, demonstrating expertise in managing investigations and ensuring community safety. He completed the 160-hour supervisory training program and effectively led officers as an Acting Sergeant, showcasing strong leadership and a commitment to excellence. With his extensive training, including certifications in Krav Maga, RedMan, and Tactical Combat Casualty Care, coupled with his proven leadership and investigative skills, Sergeant Ort is well-prepared to excel in his new role.
