Mountain Village is a great place to live, work & visit.
关于我们
Situated in the heart of the breathtaking San Juan Mountains, Mountain Village was incorporated in 1995 as a Home Rule Municipality. Its founders envisioned a European-style ski-in/ski-out, pedestrian-friendly destination resort that would complement the historic mining town of Telluride. A three-stage gondola transportation system connects the Town of Mountain Village with the Town of Telluride. Situated at 9,500 feet, Mountain Village is comparably a world apart from other resorts: it is innately spectacular, beautifully orchestrated and planned, and overflowing with style, charm and sophistication.

On March 10, 1995, our community was officially incorporated as the Town of Mountain Village. For three decades (and the years before incorporation), we've grown from a vision into a thriving destination known for world-class skiing, stunning natural beauty and our community spirit. We will celebrate three decades of the Town all year long with fun events planned for this summer. As we prepare for our festivities, we want to hear your stories! Do you have a favorite memory or photo from the early days in Mountain Village? Submit it through our anniversary form found here: bit.ly/30yearsofTMVform. Selected submissions will be featured during our summer events! Thank you to the Telluride Historical Museum for sharing the first three photos of the early days of Mountain Village under construction and the artistic rendering of the original vision for Mountain Village drawn in 1980 by Harry Fischman and Jeffery Prescott (which involved a narrow gauge train instead of a gondola). The fourth photo depicts the early days of the Sunset Concert Series (note that the Madeline Hotel is not yet built on the right side of the photo). #MountainVillage30 #30YearsStrong #MountainVillageCO

The Town of Mountain Village celebrated the retirement of Public Works Director Finn Kjome this week as he will officially retire on November 29 after more than 30 years of service with Mountain Village. Kjome’s career history in the area predates the town itself as he was hired by the ski area in 1989 after moving here from Iowa for just a season after graduating college. He worked in lift operations or anything else that needed to be done in the early days of the ski area. He was then officially hired by the Mountain Village Metro District in 1993, which then became the Town of Mountain Village when Mountain Village was incorporated in 1995. He was involved in Mountain Village’s infrastructure, including roads, cable system and water and wastewater systems and played a role in all major development projects in town. Read more about Finn's career and retirement plans on our blog.
