This morning, veterans, residents, Select Board members, and staff gathered for Easton's Purple Heart Day ceremony outside of the Town Offices to pay tribute to the brave men and women who have made incredible sacrifices for our freedom. The ceremony included a moment of silence, reading of Easton's Purple Heart Day Proclamation, flag raising, and a number of speakers who highlighted the importance of recognizing this day. Purple Heart Day, observed annually on August 7, is a day dedicated to honoring the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have been wounded or killed in action. The Purple Heart is a military decoration awarded to those who have suffered wounds or have died as a result of enemy action.

The Town of Easton seeks proposals from qualified individuals or firms for the development of its Climate Action Plan (CAP). The project consists of developing baseline metrics, inclusive of existing policy and program assessment; development of a CAP with robust public engagement including a prioritized list of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) elimination and sequestration strategies and actions, not limited to efficiency and renewable energy and are expected to also include other policy areas which have a direct impact on GHG generation (i.e. zoning, wetlands, and transportation; and the identification of achievable policy and program recommendations and associated outcome monitoring strategies. By requesting LOI’s, the aim is to initiate productive discussions for the future solicitation of creative proposals that align with the intent of the Town to provide recreational/community space at the Site, including but not limited to: courts, rinks, swimming pools, athletic fields, gymnasiums, indoor stadiums, health and sports clubs, gyms, weightlifting areas, indoor bowling alleys or theaters.
