The Town of Berthoud is seeking to become the first Dark Sky Community along the Front Range. As part of this certification, we have created a sky brightness monitoring program that uses solar-charged sky quality meters. These meters have been placed throughout town to get readings in a variety of areas. These readings are used to identify areas of improvement and how our dark sky-friendly code updates are affecting the town. After initial readings, the Town currently sits at a level 5 on the scale shown.

Congratulations to Berthoud business, Agile RF Systems! They've developed and demonstrated the latest Portable Weather Radar for the USAF. This new radar (developed and produced in Berthoud, CO) will provide critical weather surveillance where existing systems do not adequately cover. The weather surveillance data is consistent with the US NEXRAD observational products and will be used for forecasting and real time nowcasting of weather conditions. We are honored you've chosen Berthoud to call your home.

Most splash pads are for kids. The Town of Berthoud is proud to introduce its natural stone interactive splash and play area. It is approximately 6,000 sq feet of fountains, falls, and sprays to keep the family entertained and cooled off. It also features a stone bench in a "dry zone" if you find the water play area empty and want to Zen out to the sound of the waterfall. We want to thank KCI Construction Company, OLC (Architecture | Interiors | Aquatics), and TB Group for designing and constructing this area with more than just children in mind. And thank you to Baseline Engineering Corporation for being a part of our team! Everyone is enthusiastically invited to grab their family and join us for the grand reopening of Berthoud Town Park on Saturday, September 14th, at 9:00 am.
