Publication Alert!?? I am thrilled to announce our research publication titled "Improving diagnostics and surveillance of malaria among displaced people in Africa" Malaria is a deadly tropical disease spread by a parasitic vector called Plasmodium. Over the years, malaria continues to rank among the top infectious diseases implicated globally in causing high morbidity and mortality in low- and middle-income countries, especially in Africa. African communities that have been forced to leave their homes experience a considerably greater susceptibility to malaria as a result of densely populated living conditions, restricted availability of healthcare, and environmental influences than those who are not displaced. Hence, addressing malaria in displaced populations in Africa requires comprehensive and well-coordinated strategies. Advanced diagnostic and surveillance technologies are essential for promptly identifying and treating malaria, providing chances to monitor and control its spread effectively. Our review aims to assess the existing surveillance and diagnostic methods, difficulties, and consequences of malaria in displaced populations in Africa. For International Childhood Cancer Day 2025, let us unite in action, raise our voices, and work together to ensure that every child, no matter where they are born, has access to the care, treatment, and hope they deserve. Let us continue to fight for the day when no parent ever again has to hear the words, "Your child has cancer." What are the most common types of childhood cancer? The most common types of childhood cancer include leukaemia, brain tumours, lymphomas, neuroblastoma, and kidney cancer. These types of cancer require specialised treatment, and survival rates vary depending on the type and stage of the disease. How can early detection improve childhood cancer outcomes? Early detection of childhood cancer can significantly improve survival rates. Many childhood cancers have subtle early signs, and when caught early, treatments are more likely to be effective. Awareness campaigns like International Childhood Cancer Day play a crucial role in helping parents and healthcare providers recognise these signs. In the phase of exploring my interests. I got accepted into a Research Internship Program, organized by Toufik's World Medical Association. The program started with sessions that taught us explicitly about the intricacies of research work, the methodologies, data analysis, putting the research components strongly together before publishing. I progressed to the second phase which was an internship program, where I get to contribute to ongoing research work. The first part of the program provided me with the foundational knowledge I needed to navigate the internship program, and through this experience, I have gained valuable on- field insights. I recently just submitted my contributions to a research paper for review. And I am actively looking forward to the results. I would like to specially thank Toufik Abdul-Rahman, MD for his incredible commitment to nurturing my research interests. This is only a phase, there's more to come!
