Artistic endeavors that fight for a more equitable arts community and an inclusive society.
关于我们
Torito Arts NFP is a 501(c)3 organization based in Chicago, IL that works locally, nationally and internationally to promote ethnic, racial, gender, cultural and conceptual diversity in the arts and to make a wide variety of art forms accessible to general and underserved audiences. Torito Arts not only strives to bring visibility to artists and artistic traditions from under-represented communities, but also to activate audiences who feel that the contemporary arts scene is not welcoming of their communities in traditional arts spaces. We focus on projects that strongly address the intersectionality of arts and social equity and maintain that the arts are a key component in healing social injustice.

Hound Dog House Concerts in Santa Barbara was the best place to kick-off La Muchacha y el Propio Junte's very first US tour. It was an intimate space with an especially warm audience. Everyone involved had the most amazing time. https://lnkd.in/gtReDMrh #LaMuchacha #ElPropioJunte #ColombianMusic #PunkRock #LiveMusic #Video #Music #LatinosInTheUSA Mid Atlantic Arts

This is a statement Claudia Norman and I crafted for the Creative & Independent Producer Alliance - CIPA, but I think it carries over beautifully to the work I do outside of CIPA as well. I am proud to share this statement as we brace for a chaotic and very uncertain, potentially dangerous, future. Never lose hope and always keep fighting.
In light of the recent US?elections?and our deep concerns for the safety of multiple American communities who may be affected by the incoming administration, we write today to affirm the mission and values upon which?CIPA?was founded: Advocacy, Mentorship. Community We at?CIPA?believe in the transformative power of art and its ability to ask critical questions, provoke meaningful conversations, and imagine new possibilities. We envision a safe global art scene that is equitable, diverse, and sustainable and that serves a demand for broadened perspectives and expansive representation of the society in which we create our work. Now more than ever,?CIPA??will advocate to catalyze dialogue, foster empathy, and support collaboration and coalition between artists and creative producers affected by pressing policies that limit our practice globally.?We will continue to work collectively on projects that uplift and celebrate the voices, stories and contributions of all genders, cultures and the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. CIPA?has the great fortune of being staffed and led by a team of outstanding and diverse arts professionals. Our diversity is our strength, and we stand arm in arm with our colleagues and friends of all backgrounds and indentities to stem the tide of intolerance and hate. We always have been and always will be stronger together. “This is precisely the time when artists go to work. There is not time for despair, no place for self-pity, no need for fear, we speak, we write, we do language. That is how civilizations heal.” “I know the world is bruised and bleeding, and though it is important not to ignore its pain, it is also critical to refuse to succumb to its malevolence. Like failure, chaos contains information that can lead to knowledge – even wisdom. Like art.” Toni Morrison -- Illustration: A Getty Images graphic depicting a grayscale human clambering up collapsing red bars representing the stripes of the American flag.
