When clients request features your database doesn't support, it's crucial to maintain a balance between service excellence and practical limitations. To navigate this challenge:
- **Assess feasibility:** Determine if the feature is within the scope of future updates or if a custom solution is viable.
- **Communicate transparently:** Explain the current capabilities and any limitations, while expressing a commitment to finding solutions.
- **Offer alternatives:** Suggest comparable features or workarounds that satisfy the client's needs without overpromising.

When it comes to demands for unsupported features there are following steps I follow: 1. Understand the user's demands clearly and try to comprehend goals they are trying to achieve with features. 2. Check the product roadmap to see if it aligns closely with any future updates. 3. feasibility study to ensure if the features can be implemented with the current DB architecture or can be considerable adjustments based on scope, budget, and time. 4. Communicate early and clearly regarding the requested features that have potential risks, or can affect the current project constraints. 5. Document the request and every communication details, alignment and misalignment. 6. Offer alternative such as third-party integration or phased implementation
