When it comes to reusables, charging late fees can have a BIG impact on return rates, program adoption, and diner sentiment. In our latest blog, we explore different types of charges, from single-use surcharges to customizable late fees, and share when they each make sense to implement based on your dining program’s goals and measurements of success. With Topanga, you can implement charging seamlessly and create custom charging protocols for your ReusePass program. We even share real-life examples of unique charging situations from successful ReusePass dining programs like Boston University and Saint Mary’s College. Whether you’re looking to maximize ROI, increase program adoption, and/or prioritize positive user experiences, we’ve got insights (and data!) to guide your reuse charging strategy. ?? We love getting to work with amazing clients like Kenneth Field, Director of Residential Dining at Indiana University Bloomington! ????? “In August of 2023, we launched a reusable container pilot program at Collins Eatery to cut down on waste of single-use containers. We were amazed by the results—at this one, small dining facility, in just 10 months, we saved nearly 24,000 gallons of water and diverted 3,700+ pounds of waste to the landfill…We’d like to expand the ReusePass container program for carryout meals throughout campus.?This fall, we expanded the program to Read, where our diners have really taken to the program.” – Ken Field, Director of Residential Dining at IU ???Learn more about IU’s ReusePass success in our case study here: https://lnkd.in/gxtfN8TC #ReusePass #Reusables #ReusablesProgram #ReusablePackaging #Sustainability #FoodService #Dining #CampusDining #College #University
As the Director of Residential Dining at IU, Ken Field practices what he preaches. To cut down on waste from single-use containers, Ken helped launch a pilot for reusable containers on the Bloomington campus that is now thriving at two locations. At home, Ken enjoys growing vegetables and making salsa that he and his wife, Rebecca, sell at fall festivals. And while his 30+-year career of leadership in higher education dining informs some of his decision-making, Ken regularly seeks input on how current students are using the meal plan and what they’d like to see on the menu. Ken’s advice: “Be a good listener, observe, and pay attention to the details. Make sure you take care of your staff, and they will take care of your customers. Don’t be afraid to take calculated risks—and if you fail, be ready to try something else.” https://lnkd.in/gWyi4QiD
