Meet the last member of the Top 50 Farmers Selection Committee: Ana Digón! With her extensive experience in regenerative agriculture and deep commitment to fostering collaboration, Ana brings invaluable expertise to the table. As a co-founder of the Regenerative Agriculture Association in Iberia and a skilled facilitator, she has spent years building strong networks and connections among farmers and visionaries across Spain and Portugal. Ana is also a cornerstone of the EARA | European Alliance for Regenerative Agriculture as an internal organizational process and community care facilitator. Ana’s approach is centered on collaboration, connection, and the belief that regenerating both our soils and relationships is essential for addressing the pressing challenges of our time. We are excited to have her unique perspective and passion for community-driven transformation on the Selection Committee!?

?? Meet Nicolas Verschuere, a member of the Top 50 Farmers Selection Committee! With over 20 years of hands-on experience in regenerative agriculture, Nicolas has led large-scale farming projects across the globe, advising on everything from fruit, grains, and vegetables to sugar beet and cane production. His expertise lies in transforming conventional farms into resilient, soil-first systems that are both profitable and sustainable. As the Co-Founder of Soil Capital, Nicolas has played a key role in helping over 200,000 hectares of farmland transition to regenerative practices across 15 countries. Under his leadership, Soil Capital launched Europe’s first certified carbon payment program, unlocking over €4 million in payments to farmers improving soil health. A driving force in the regenerative movement, Nicolas continues to support farmers in France, Belgium, and the UK in large-scale soil regeneration. We’re honored to have his deep agronomic expertise shaping our selection process! ????

We’re excited to introduce Marin Lysák Ph.D., Assistant Professor at University of Copenhagen (K?benhavns Universitet) and a leading force in European food system transformation. Marin teaches on Climate Solutions and holds a PhD in crop diversification and food security with a special emphasis on entrepreneurship. With extensive experience leading large EU projects, Marin has a macro-level understanding of what it takes to drive systemic change—placing collaboration at the heart of the solution. Marin is the co-coordinator of CLEVERFOOD, an EU-funded initiative that connects policymakers, researchers, farmers, investors, and youth to accelerate Europe’s transition to a fair, circular, and plant-forward food system. She also has deep expertise in reviewing applications and providing grants, making her an invaluable addition to our selection process. Beyond research and extensive collaborative efforts across Europe, Marin champions regenerative agriculture as the board chair of Foodprint Nordic, advocating for farming solutions that restore ecosystems, support biodiversity, and empower communities. With her vision, experience, and ability to unite key players, Marin will help us identify the Top 50 Farmers shaping the future of food.?

Say hello to Anna Krzywoszynska! ?? Soil is the foundation of successful farming and Anna’s work ensures that farmers have the knowledge and tools to care for this essential resource. Her insights are invaluable for Top 50 Farmers as we identify farmers leading the way in regenerative and sustainable agriculture. An Associate Professor in Transdisciplinary Human-Environment Relations at the University of Oulu, Finland, Anna brings a crucial perspective on how soil science and sustainable practices shape the future of farming. Anna also serves on the Advisory Board of the Horizon Europe Mission Soil Deal for Europe and co-chairs the International Union of Soil Science’s Commission on Soil Humanities and Social Sciences—bridging the gap between science, farmers, and policymakers. Anna is also the Founder of the Soil Care Network, an interdisciplinary, global community of scholars and practitioners dedicated to soil health. This network fosters collaboration to advance soil stewardship and promote sustainable agricultural practices that support both farmers and ecosystems.
