Are you leaving money on the table? This translates directly into increased Operating Profit. Is your organization achieving this level of performance? Sometimes, we use the terms Price Realization and Price Readthrough interchangeably, and that's okay—at least it signals that we are serious about measuring the impact of our pricing activities. In the most technical sense: Price readthrough refers to the percentage of a list price increase successfully realized in the final transaction price. It focuses on how much of a planned price increase is retained after accounting for discounting or other adjustments like promotions. For example, if you plan a 5% list price increase but only achieve a 3% increase in the net Price after discounts, your price readthrough is 60%. Net price realization, on the other hand, measures the overall impact of all pricing activities (not just planned increases) on revenue/profit growth. It compares the current average selling price (ASP) to a base period ASP, considering the current unit sales volume. It shows how effectively your pricing strategies drive net revenue or GP$ growth, regardless of whether we implemented specific list price increases. A positive net price realization indicates improved pricing effectiveness compared to the base period. Of course, if you consider the "base period" your "current budget," then, in essence, your net price realization rate (as a percentage) measures Price Readthrough. Whatever your terminology, if you regularly measure the impact of your pricing activities (i.e., more than once a month) and actively track growth areas and missed opportunities down to customer and product level, then you are ahead of 75% of companies (this is not a made up number - and based on Revenue Growth Analytics Maturity report). #revenue_growth_analytics
