Yesterday's emotionally stirring first day at Toniic's Annual Global Gathering in Cape Town was a vivid reminder of why we gather: to forge meaningful connections, gain true understanding, and catalyze sustainable change. ?????? Our day began with Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis discussing the city's ambitious goals and confronting the reality of its needs. We delved into the local impact landscape on a panel hosted by Rowena Luk, with speakers Lelemba Phiri and Bongani Sithole, exploring the challenges, successes, and lessons learned from investing in the region. The day took a reflective turn with Zelda La Grange's touching recount of her years with Nelson Mandela, reminding us of the profound personal changes that precede societal ones. Day One concluded with a visit to PHILIPPI VILLAGE in one of Cape Town's 25 ?? Red Zones where we witnessed firsthand the resilience amidst daily challenges of violent crime. This stark, grounding experience underscored the urgency of our mission and the direct impact we aspire to make. There's a lot of work ahead of us, and we, the Toniic community, are here for it. ??
