“Innovation Beyond Waste” Wastewater itself is no longer waste but a valuable resource for the sustainable society. Seeking to lead this new paradigm, BKT has devoted years to technological innovation in an endeavor to transform wastewater “from cost stream to profit stream”. BKT has created Tomorrow Water Process (TWP) to minimize environmental impacts while maximizing economic benefits from the wastewater. TWP aims to reduceoperation cost from energy savings, sludge volume reductions, and elimination of chemical use. In addition to these savings, TWP also generates profits in the form of carbon credit and advanced energy production with thermal hydrolysis and anaerobic digestion technologies. TWP's core bio filtration technology is able to divert carbon sources for the maximum generation of biogas, overcoming a stringent range of Carbon-to-Nitrogen ratio in its wastewater treatment process with Anammox bacteria. Every single unit of technology is important, but a well-organized and well-balanced process is the most important key factor to realize our mission. To facilitate this vision of sustainable development, BKT has formally registered Tomorrow Water Initiative(#12177) to UN SDGs Partnership and TWP was also accepted as an official SDGs model at 2016 UN ECOSOC High-level segment.

We teamed up with Pulmuone Foods USA, Inc. to manage their increasing wastewater treatment needs under the stringent discharge permit requirements. By repurposing six shipping docks into a turnkey industrial wastewater treatment facility, we significantly reduced ?? their annual sewer charges. The Impact: Pulmuone Foods USA maintained their status as a good neighbor while focusing on core production activities. Tomorrow Water is excited to be part of a team of utility, academic, engineering, and technology partners, led by AECOM Technical Services, Inc., selected for a demonstration project funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to make wastewater??treatment more sustainable. As part of a $27.8 million effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from Water Resource Recovery Facilities (WRRFs), this project will improve how nitrogen is removed from wastewater. By using a new treatment process called Partial Denitrification-Anammox (PdNA), the team aims to simplify operations, lower energy use??, and cut emissions, all without increasing costs.
