As we celebrate Veterans Day, we are proud to spotlight and share the stories of several veterans who are also members of our Toll Brothers family. Thanks to these individuals and all the other active and retired military members we work with daily, we continue to be safe and free. Meet Todd Burton, Designer III, ESE Consultants, from our Idaho division: In 2006, the U.S. was deep into the post-9/11 era. “We were in a time of war, and I felt it was my time to serve,” he says. Todd sailed through his aptitude test. With a diverse skill set, Todd chose surveying and civil engineering. After he completed boot camp, Todd was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany for the next six years. He met his future wife, Brittany, who was also on active duty there. They married in 2007. Todd became a stepfather but would later have two daughters of his own, both born in Germany, a place they would call home. Todd’s service soon took him far from home in 2009 after the birth of his first daughter, where he would be deployed on a 15-month tour in Iraq. The war in the Middle East was intense, and Todd frequently thought about his family. Brittany faced complications during her pregnancy, and Todd made the difficult decision to leave Iraq and return to California to support her so she could recover. Todd re-enlisted in the Army a year later. Stationed in Germany, Todd’s unit had returned from Iraq and was preparing for another deployment. Todd would have been on that tour, but fate had other plans. During field exercises, Todd suffered a serious back injury and was flown to the Wounded Warriors Transition Unit in Texas. His back was broken with a limited 30-degree range of motion. Doctors warned that recovery would be difficult, and he would likely never be able to train again. Determined to avoid surgery, Todd focused on intensive physical therapy, and after six months, he was back on his feet. In September 2013, Todd overcame his injuries. He moved to Fort Carson, Colorado, with his wife and new daughter. Soon after, Todd was deployed again, this time to Afghanistan. The desert environment was harsh, and Todd suffered a second back injury. It became clear that his body could no longer handle the strain of active duty. In 2015, after 10 years of honorable service, Todd medically retired from the Army, having served two tours under Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. In search of a fresh start, Todd and his family moved to Boise, Idaho, where Todd joined ESE Consultants. At Toll Brothers, he was able to apply his military engineering background in new and exciting ways. Through all his challenges Todd’s journey has been one of perseverance and growth. Todd has proven that even the hardest obstacles can lead to new beginnings. Today, he’s not just a father and husband but a professional who continues to build and design, creating a better future for the communities he serves. #EmployeeSpotlight #VeteransDay #IWorkForToll

As we celebrate Veterans Day, we are proud to spotlight and share the stories of several veterans who are also members of our Toll Brothers family. Thanks to these individuals and all the other active and retired military members we work with every day, we continue to be safe and free. Meet Justin Lamb, Assistant Construction Manager from our Washington division: Justin’s upbringing in Wenatchee, Washington. was deeply rooted in military tradition, with almost every family member serving. At 23 years old, faced with the high cost of college, he made the pivotal decision to leave his construction job and enlist in the U.S. Navy. During bootcamp in 2013 at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, Justin was immersed in a diverse class of recruits who were all striving to be the best and facing challenges together. Bootcamp made him feel united and focused heavily on teamwork, and he learned that, above everything else, “it’s all about the team.” When he graduated, Justin was assigned to A-School, where he completed complex, specialized training on gas turbine engines. The schooling was grueling but worth it as he was assigned to work as a Gas Turbine Systems Technician Mechanical (GSM). Justin learned vital skills in installing, repairing, and maintaining shipboard engines for U.S. naval ships’ main propulsion systems and electrical power generators. In late 2013, Justin boarded the USS Gettysburg for his first deployment in 5th fleet operations in the Persian Gulf. Justin rose ranks quickly and went from an E1 to E6 within 5 years. Justin’s initial contract was for 5 years, but he wasn’t done – he reenlisted, chose shore duty in Norfolk, Virginia, and was pleased to be back on land. While in Norfolk, he met his beautiful wife, who worked as a security guard at the shipyard, and they went on to have three daughters. Justin served 8 years in the Navy and was honorably discharged as a 1st Class Petty Officer. As he transitioned into civilian life, he opened his own business doing home inspections, using his knowledge of construction and the countless lessons learned in the Navy. Justin, Leslie, Leila, Leona, and Lana made the life-changing decision to relocate to the Seattle area, eventually leading him to join Toll Brothers as an Assistant Construction Manager in October 2024. Reflecting on his military service, Justin admits he deeply appreciates the many lessons and challenging experiences and cherishes all the wonderful people he met along the way. He learned the importance of living in the moment and often says, “You never know how long you have with your loved ones, so cherish them.” “Living in the moment and focusing on what is in front of you” continues to shape his approach to both his career and family every day. #EmployeeSpotlight #VeteransMonth #IWorkForToll

As we celebrate Veterans Day, we are proud to spotlight and share the stories of several veterans who are also members of our Toll Brothers family. Thanks to these individuals and all the other active and retired military members we work with every day, we continue to be safe and free. Meet Matthew Lodge, Director of Logistics, from Toll Integrated Systems. Matt graduated from Villanova in 2010 and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the PAARNG as an Aviation Officer (15A) with the 2/104th GSAB (General Support Aviation Battalion). He became a platoon leader with an Air Assault company, which consisted of experienced Blackhawk pilots and mechanics, all far more seasoned than him. He then went to Flight School at Fort Rucker, where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant. He proudly took his newfound knowledge from Flight School and returned to the PAARNG as the Company Commander. Matt encountered challenges and growth opportunities with nearly every flight. He earned his flight hours flying at night, through icing conditions, and facing critical emergencies. Through these experiences, Matt gained confidence in his abilities as a pilot and a leader; however, his instructors' wisdom—"The best pilots from flight school start out as the worst pilots in the unit"—kept him grounded. Those words encouraged him to keep learning, listening, and growing. Through persistence and training, he advanced from Pilot, a role he was responsible only for his actions on a flight, to Pilot-in-Command and Air Mission Commander, coordinating and flying complex multi-aircraft operations. Matt’s service led him to disaster relief support stateside in response to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma and other major weather events. He played an integral role in the planning cells, where he partnered with local governments, FEMA, and other agencies to assess how he and his unit could best assist with disaster support efforts. He determined how best to deploy his unit for immediate support and coordinated vital aerial support, including aerial reconnaissance, aid delivery, civilian evacuations, and waterborne rescue operations. Matt viewed each mission as a learning opportunity, and each one helped him hone his skills. Throughout his military career, he learned, "As a leader, you’re not always the subject matter expert. Try to learn from everyone. Be curious. People have a lot to offer if you listen.” He says, "It’s important to remember that, regardless of what is going on around you, the top priority is to fly the aircraft.” That idea translates to everyone’s life: “No matter what is going on around you, it is never over until it is over.” “Control what you can until you can’t.” Matt carried these beliefs and his military experiences with him to Toll Brothers in 2015, and they’ve guided his civilian career ever since. #EmployeeSpotlight #VeteransMonth #IWorkForToll

What makes Toll Brothers a great place to work is, without a doubt – our employees. To acknowledge those who have given so much to our success, we give eligible employees a company-paid trip (and vacation time) when they reach their 10, 20, 30, and 40-year anniversary. Mike Roynan, Database Engineer Lead in IT, recently celebrated his 10-year milestone trip by taking a European river cruise. “My wife, Maureen, and I took a European river cruise along the Danube. We visited Budapest in Hungary, Vienna and Krems in Austria, Passau and Regensburg in Germany, and ended the trip in Prague, Czech Republic. Each city was beautiful, and we enjoyed learning about its history and culture, as well as trying the local food. Budapest was stunning at night, with its buildings lit in gold and white. Vienna has a rich history and culture but also felt modern. Regensburg was especially beautiful, with many medieval buildings, and Prague stood out with its mix of old and new, along with amazing views of the city. I work in the IT department and have had numerous interactions with people both inside and outside my department. Everyone I've encountered has been genuinely pleasant to work with. We all share the common value of "Taking Care of Each Other" and striving for the betterment of the company.” #EmployeeBenefits #EmployeeAppreciation #EmployeeRecognition #IWorkForToll
