This weekend, the Toledo Walleye hosted Signing Day, an exclusive event for our dedicated Walleye Ticket Plan Members— known as our FINatics. Over the course of two days, Walleye FINatics had the opportunity to attend one of three sessions to renew their ticket plans. Each year, this event continues to grow, with fans eagerly looking forward to Signing Day as soon as the new year begins. As a token of appreciation for renewing, ticket plan members received an exclusive “Signing Day gift.” This year’s gift was a mini replica helmet. Fans also had the chance to enter raffles for exciting prizes, including a team-autographed jersey, a one-night stay in a downtown hotel before a Walleye game, free parking for the remainder of the season, autographed pucks, and more! It has been so much fun to watch the Ohio Council of Community Schools and Toledo Walleye partnership evolve over the years. Since I started working at OCCS 7 years ago, we've seen so many students be rewarded with this event for their hard work in the classroom. These students got a tour of the arena with an exclusive look at some of the operations behind it all. They also got to watch practice and becme a "Walleye Player for the Day." The joy and excitement these kids had when being told of their big opportunity is amazing! These students got a chance to go on ice and learn some hockey skills from the pros. During our Q&A with the players, Conlan Keenan, Brandon Kruse, Jalen Smereck, and Chaz Reddekopp talked to the students about the importance of good grades, being a good teammate/classmate, time management, and their inspiration for playing hockey. Thank you LT Smith and Sonya Terleckyj for making this opportunity so special for these students! ??
