People across our region are disappointed with the state’s recent determination that a direct highway connection between Northwest Ohio and Columbus is not feasible or worthwhile. Check out yesterday’s piece in the Toledo Blade, which editorialized on why a solution is crucial for our regional economy, as well as the bigger picture: https://lnkd.in/dHiPSYPA Read a letter with reaction from TMACOG Executive Director Sandy Spang here: https://lnkd.in/dcjMVVSG

Today is the first meeting of our 2025 Governing Board, which includes several dozen elected officials and community leaders from across the region. Thank you to everyone who has agreed to serve in this important role on behalf of our region, including our new leadership team: Chair Ed Schimmel, mayor of Northwood; First Vice Chair George Sarantou, Toledo City Council; and Second Vice Chair Lisa Sobecki, president of the Lucas County Board of Commissioners. The Governing Board is responsible for approving TMACOG’s budget, membership dues, annual work program, and various policies, plans, and programs. Representation is set by TMACOG's bylaws and includes leaders from counties, cities, villages, townships, schools, and special districts. Prior to 2025, this body was known as the TMACOG Board of Trustees.
