At the Kakenya Center for Excellence, Maasai girls are learning self-defense and assertiveness, gaining the confidence to protect themselves and stay in school instead of undergoing harmful practices. Nasinyari, from northern Tanzania, faced an exhausting eight-hour journey for water, putting her and other women in danger. She risked predators, difficult terrain, and lost precious hours for survival. Thanks to the partnership between #TogetherWomenRise and Save the Rain women like Nasinyari are receiving rainwater harvesting tank, freeing her from this grueling task. Now, she has more time for her family and no longer faces these daily dangers. Her baby girl will grow up without knowing the hardship of walking for water.
