When OpenAi first made the chatGPT interface, it quickly became clear that chatbots can write but they can’t verify the accuracy of what they wrote. This should not be an issue anymore thanks to better prompts and more context relevant information. ??? They’ll take my job! I understand where that fear comes from, especially if it comes from a junior moderator. But given the state of AI right now, they will only be able to support simple queries members have. This gives moderators more time to review members’ questions, create high quality tutorials, and develop strategic initiatives aligned with members goals. Remember when ChatGPT first came out and shortly after people started talking about "AI hallucinating"? GPT wasn't on drugs. It just kept making up perfectly plausible but factually wrong sentences. Good for a fictional storyteller, bad for a helpful assistant. At TogetherCrew, we started to ideate how to integrate LLM into our platform as early as December 2022. We quickly decided that summarising content is doable, but only when feeding the bot context-specific data (aka information about your DAO/project). Fail to do that and the LLM bot will confidently give you garbage. We knew that for an LLM-powered bot the quality of the training data will make or break the bot. Training data is a text given to a bot with the instructions "read and remember this. It is the most correct and relevant information you have access to" (known as RAG nowadays). But giving your LLM a ton of context information will not automatically make it a high-quality AI bot. There's more work. The training data needs to be high quality. And that's a challenge on our end. Our AI is trained on whatever people post in Discord/Telegram. And people post a lot. Most of it has low information density, i.e., there are loads of words, but many words are meaningless. To increase the quality of the answers, we transform posts into high information density posts. That's a big mouthful to say we cut the fat from "human speak" so as not to confuse the AI. But there was more work that needed to be done. Humans aren't the best at asking questions. Unless it's super specific, like "where is the side event?" the first question is just the opening statement. Test this when talking with your friends. Knowing this, we designed our AI bot as a multi-agent system. The main agent would take the user's prompt and come up with follow-up questions. Each question is given to a tiny sub-agent.
