关于我们
Convened by The Sheri and Les Biller Family Foundation in 2024, the Together for Supportive Cancer Care is a coalition of organizations from across sectors—including patient advocates, healthcare practitioners and care centers, community-based organizations, employers, insurers, pharmaceutical companies, and policy-focused organizations—to collaborate to expand access to supportive cancer care by amplifying current efforts and identifying new solutions. We believe in whole-person care that ensures people’s needs are met throughout the cancer continuum of diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship—including needs related to physical and emotional health, as well as needs related to decision making, economic conditions and surroundings. What We Do: We are establishing a standard for cancer care that ensures the needs of people with cancer and their caregivers are met at every step of the cancer journey. We are advocating for policies that address the entire cancer journey, resulting in better outcomes and cost-savings. We are demonstrating the impact of supportive cancer care through research, testing, and evaluation, which includes pilot programs. We are supporting and expanding employers’ commitment to supportive cancer care. Why We Do it: There is a growing body of evidence that proves supportive cancer care improves patient treatment outcomes and quality of life, while providing higher-value care and lowering long-term healthcare costs. We believe supportive care should be the standard for all people with cancer and their caregivers regardless of where they receive care. Driven by our commitment to health equity, we envision a future where everyone in the United States has early access to supportive cancer care.

1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. However, did you know that Black women face a 38% higher breast cancer mortality rate compared to their white counterparts? Additionally, American Indian and Alaska Native women are the only racial or ethnic group that has not seen a reduction in breast cancer mortality rates over the past 30 years. Addressing these health disparities requires expanding equitable access to preventive care. That’s why our partner, American Cancer Society, is committed to providing free mammograms, working toward a future without breast cancer for everyone. Learn more at:?https://lnkd.in/gbmJ5Eav??

Cancer in America reveals stark disparities, affecting groups differently based on race, ethnicity, geography, sexual orientation, gender identity, and income. Black women, for instance, are 40% more likely to die from breast cancer than white women. Minority groups also face challenges in accessing recommended treatments. Cancer patients from racial and ethnic minority groups are also less likely to receive recommended chemotherapy and molecularly targeted treatments. ? Kaiser Permanente, a member of the Together for Supportive Cancer Care coalition, was recently highlighted in Newsweek for their dedication to comprehensive care. Their Cancer Support Line connects patients with specialists who provide assistance with non-medical needs, including financial aid, transportation, and access to healthy food. As part of the coalition, they are actively working to expand equitable access to supportive care across the nation, and through initiatives like CancerX, Kaiser Permanente collaborates with stakeholders to drive innovation and enhance equity in cancer care. ?
