Thank you to everyone that joined last week's TSR Talks entitled “What Motivates Drivers to Prioritize Safety?” Participants engaged in a robust conversation with several key takeaways, including that implementation of a safe driver recognition program can reduce risky driving by 37% and that over 80% of drivers in another study felt more valued and showed greater technology adoption with ongoing positive recognition. This week, former NYC Deputy Chief Fleet Officer and TSR advisor Eric Richardson will be presenting at the #GeotabConnect conference being held in Orlando, Florida on a number of important topics including how to implement a lasting road safety culture and how fleets can utilize the TSR FOCUS on Fleet Safety program to do so. This program draws on lessons and best practices from some of the world's largest and most diverse public and private fleets and technology companies dedicated to reducing fatalities and serious injuries on our roads. During his presentation, Eric will also discuss some of our upcoming benchmarking research on telematics and fleet safety, as well as give insights on some of the emerging technologies and initiatives that TSR will be working on with partners in the coming year. Today, TSR is proud to launch our next Fleet Safety Technology pilot: "The School Bus of the Future." Building on TSR’s successful 2024 Truck of the Future program, this pilot outfits school buses with similar equipment — surround cameras, near-miss AI analysis and in-cab-alerts – but adapted and specialized for school buses operating in urban scenarios, expanding the scope of both the types of tested vehicles and the environments that these safety technologies can be applied to. Our partners in this important initiative include New York City independent school bus operator NYC School Bus Umbrella Services, Inc, one of the largest private school bus operators in NYC, along with leading AI video telematics technology provider VisionTrack and NYC Citywide Administrative Services, who last year published a best-in-class School Bus Safe Fleet Transition Plan. We know that advanced technology and cross-sector collaboration can make roads safer for fleet drivers and vulnerable road users?and the The School Bus of the Future pilot will apply technology, training and lessons learned from previous program pilots to demonstrate that improved school bus safety is possible right now for some of our most vulnerable road users -- the thousands of students who travel by bus each and every day.
