2024 was a year of big transition for Together Estranged and we are so thankful for the committed and passionate volunteers that made our change in leadership so smooth. When Seth Forbes, MBA, MS Digital Technology decided she needed to step back from her role as founder and director, it was a scary moment not knowing what TE would look like going forward. Angel Cassin and Faatima Campbell focused on keeping the stability required for it to exist. Grass roots leadership isn't easy, especially when personal experience of family estrangement is not a linear or straightforward path to walk. Building community has been at the centre of the work together as a team. While we are sad that Faith has decided to step back in her role, it will be wonderful to see the successes in her career unfold. Despite this uncertainty we have hosted over 25 online events this year, including our Togetherness Series which saw some incredible speakers take part, giving their time to benefit this community. Our team of writers and supporters published advice columns, educational articles, and blogs, as well as delivering an informative and resource-filled newsletter every single month. The ever growing team of volunteers show up, often without acknowledgement, to prepare content for social media and moderate online groups - they see the need, give their energy, and witness the impact first hand. It's really something. Working with partners and champions through coaching, media coverage and sponsorships is a growing aspect of our work, as we are now the only dedicated non-profit to support those impacted by family estrangement. We are grateful for the space and careful attention given to this topic as public awareness increases and hard questions, nuanced perspectives, and authentic conversations happen. Of particular note is the collaborations we are making time to support - including special projects, that focus on representations of the real lived experience of estrangement in creative and academic forms. So as we look to 2025, TE is focusing on growing our board. We are putting quality effort towards forming a group of experienced, passionate and hard working people who can deliver for our community. How can you support us in this endeavour?

We are excited to announce that we are looking for a new board member to join the Together Estranged community. This is a pivotal time for our small organization, to solidify our foundations, and to get a grip on how we will grow over the next five years. As a consequence, we are looking for an experienced individual to join our board in a voluntary capacity and support the CEO on a special project to grow the Board and solidify our base of volunteers. The organization is small, but with a crucial role to play within the family estrangement field - which is fast-growing in media attention. It is largely user-led and the voices of our community are crucial to us. The right candidate would have the ability to manage a board recruitment process, understand how to choose the right people for this stage of growth, and understand how to recruit to the values and priorities of the organization. A background in people management and/or recruitment would be essential, as would be the time to lead the process. The opportunity would give the right candidate a lot of creativity and spaciousness, and also the chance to lead and shape our people strategy for the next five years. Together Estranged, a leading nonprofit dedicated to supporting and empowering individuals navigating family estrangement, today announced a significant leadership transition. Seth Forbes, MBA, MS Digital Technology, the esteemed Founder and Executive Director, will be stepping down from her role to pursue personal endeavors, focusing on family, health, and career. In light of this transition, Seth is pleased to announce the appointment of Angel Cassin as interim CEO. Angel brings a wealth of experience in project management, healthcare, and extensive knowledge in the field of family estrangement.
