In 2015, Toeniskoetter Construction, Inc. took on two exciting projects for the Tech Museum of Innovation (now known as the The Tech Interactive) in downtown San Jose.
1️⃣ Design Challenge Learning Institute (DCLI) Transformation In the historic McCabe Hall Building, we uncovered architectural treasures from the 1930s—crown moldings, intricately carved air-circulation registers, and structural beams. Embracing these discoveries, we integrated them into the design, creating a space where history meets innovation. Working under tight deadlines in an active museum, we prioritized safety and minimal disruption. We're proud to have delivered spaces that inspire and serve our community.
2️⃣ Ground-Floor Restroom Renovation Serving over 1,500 visitors daily, these restrooms needed to be efficient and engaging. We reimagined the 1,640 sq ft space, added a family restroom, and installed innovative features like Dyson Airblade Taps—among the first installations of their kind! These taps combine water supply and hand-drying, reducing floor drips and eliminating paper towel waste. The entrances feature Sensitile tiles that reflect light and movement, adding an interactive touch.
