Single-room occupancy (SRO) units provide affordable housing options for individuals with low or minimal incomes, helping to reduce homelessness and housing insecurity. By offering a safe and stable living environment, SROs support residents in maintaining their independence and improving their quality of life. Additionally, SROs contribute to the diversity and vibrancy of neighborhoods by accommodating a wide range of residents. Over 50 Years of South Of Market Neighborhood Building and San Francisco Civic Impact.
关于我们
As South of Market Neighborhood Builders, it is the Mission of the TODCO Group to assure that the poor, the disadvantaged, and the working people of South of Market — elders, hotel residents, homeless, immigrants and families — will always be an integral part of their Neighborhood's future, always benefited rather than displaced by renewal, and able: -To meet basic needs for housing, nutrition and economic security, ending deprivation. -To live in safety with dignity, respect and equity, ending isolation and exploitation. -To share community productivity to build social capital, institute wellness, expand common assets, and impact the future. -To achieve their just aspirations now and for generations to come. Working together with South of Market's many communities, our Vision is to realize here at last: a just and inclusive Neighborhood of Opportunity.

Preventative Health and Wellness Initiatives Update Imagine living in a foreign country where you don’t speak the language. Now, imagine having a health emergency while living alone. Paramedics burst through the door to come to your aid, but how will they know you are deathly allergic to multiple medicines? Or what if the EMTs whisk you away to the hospital for treatment, but no one knows about the six medical prescriptions you must take each day? At TODCO, we have significantly reduced the likelihood of such scenarios. TODCO has partnered with the San Francisco Fire Department to participate in the Vial of Life program. This program enables EMTs and paramedics responding to an emergency call at our residents’ homes to access their current medical information, regardless of language barriers. This was made possible through a massively coordinated intake day, during which twenty San Francisco Fire Department professionals, including off-duty fire personnel, EMTs, and other staff, collaborated with TODCO social work staff to visit TODCO seniors in their homes. With the help of bilingual social workers, fire personnel, and other translators, current health conditions and prescriptions were documented on identifiable Vial of Life sheets and posted on unit refrigerators. This process is updated annually to ensure the information remains current and useful. In the event of an emergency, professionals can save precious time by using the information posted on the refrigerators to inform treatment at the hospital. This can save time and potentially lives. One of this year’s Vial of Life events was held at Coleman House, where participation was voluntary for all residents. Coleman House is named in loving memory of Eugene Coleman, a veteran, Warriors fan, and beloved San Francisco advocate and civil servant. #TODCOGroup #SanFrancisco #AffordableHousing #Nonprofit #SOMA #SeniorHousing #Health #Medical www.todco.org

I'm happy to share that I've been working with TODCO Group, Eric Tao and Nick Nestal to provide the formerly homeless, seniors, disabled with 140 units of new Italian kitchens. All made with plywood boxes and solid wood drawers and doors. These were designed to be durable and aesthetically pleasing. We want the tenants to feel proud of their homes and we want the property managers The John Stewart Company to not have to think about the kitchens or have any maintenance issues. We made sure to provide sink liners and adaptable sink bases. It's hard to make affordable housing affordable. Our goal is to provide quality and work within the budget. We are proud to be your partner in getting your job done well.

"The words I would use to describe myself would be a queen, resilient, optimistic, and democratic. And I'm a good cook. (laughs) They call me "Cookie." I cook breakfast once a month for the tenants. I barbecue on the roof and everyone loves it. In the summer I go outside and give what I have left to the homeless. I've lived in the Knox, this will be my fourth year. I was homeless before that..." - [ Resident Not Pictured ] Credit: 'Stories of the City' Portrait Project 1991-2005 by 6th On 7th Photography Workshop & Gallery www.todco.org

“The Jewish museum’s closure is a terrible blow to the critical mass of Yerba Buena, which was always intended to be the city’s primary cultural center. It really hurts the whole downtown recovery,” said John Elberling, president of TODCO Group (Tenants and Owners Development Corp.), a nonprofit affordable housing developer and advocacy group headquartered in the neighborhood. The Yerba Buena Gardens — two blocks of public parks surrounded by housing, hotels, restaurants and the Moscone Convention Center that are the neighborhood’s centerpiece — were “terribly underused” this year, Elberling said. “We’re just not bringing people downtown to come to events and activities in the gardens.” Read the full article in the San Francisco Chronicle linked below.?? https://lnkd.in/gv623rAG #TODCO #SanFranicsco #AffordableHousing #Nonprofit #DowntownRecovery #SouthofMarket #YerbaBuenaGardens
