We are excited to announce the inauguration of Microsoft Learning Labs for Green Skills at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Government ITI, Aundh, Pune! As part of Microsoft India’s Green Skills for Youth in Vocational Education for the Manufacturing Sector program, implemented by TNS India Foundation, this initiative is a significant step towards integrating Electric Vehicle (EV) and Solar technology training into vocational education. Designed to equip underserved youth with hands-on experience and a 200-hour upskilling program, these labs will provide essential green and soft skills, preparing them for meaningful career opportunities in the growing green economy. With support from Pernod Ricard India Foundation, Gopal Barde, a tomato farmer from Mheluske - Nashik, embraced sustainable practices under the Ankur-Uday Project led by TNS India Foundation. By adopting enriched vermicompost on 0.5 acre of his 4-acre farm, Gopal made significant strides in improving soil health and reducing chemical dependency. The intervention helped him reduce chemical fertilizer and pesticide use by 30%, cut input costs by ?11,530 annually, revitalize soil by returning earthworms, and enhance water retention and soil porosity. This shift didn’t just solve challenges like wilting and flower drop - it resulted in healthier, greener crops and better yields. Gopal’s story is a shining example of how organic interventions are driving sustainable farming practices.
