Rapid hiring events, like the one held in Nashville last week, are just one way TDOC remains focused on recruitment and retention. Our leadership team has been holding town hall meetings with staff to pinpoint ways to improve retention, and in the new year, will be establishing a designated retention specialist position at each facility to mentor new officers as they transition back from the Academy. Read more about what we’ve learned and how we’re using that information to drive positive change:?https://lnkd.in/ebX4ueKs

Participants at the Knoxville Day Reporting Center gave back to their community by volunteering at CareCuts of Knoxville and Metro Drug Coalition's The Gateway sorting and organizing donations, putting together opioid overdose reversal kits, and even helping clean. Participation in community service is a vital part of the Day Reporting Center and is required for progression through the program but also gives participants an opportunity to give back in a truly meaningful way.

To celebrate #VeteransDay, TDOC is recognizing Matthew Isbell, Tennessee Correction Academy Instructor and U.S. Army veteran, who was honored at the 2024 Governor’s Veterans Day event for the significant contributions he's made to TDOC and the sacrifices he’s made to protect our nation. In service, Isbell earned over two dozen awards, including two Purple Hearts and a Presidential Unit Citation before being medically retired in 2009. Today, he serves in the TN National Guard, demonstrates a strong commitment to community service, and is an invaluable asset to TDOC. Happy Veterans Day, Matthew, and to all the men and women who have served or continue to serve in the United States Armed Forces.
