Thank you for some excellent days at TMA BlueTech? Week,?Matt Classen. You and your team have done an incredible job putting together this event with such a group of interesting people and companies! Presenting?Ocean Autonomy Cluster?and our projects at several panels this week has been a pleasure. I have made new connections that will strengthen the collaboration between clusters and companies across the pond. And I also know that Clarify has made several new relations this week. This trip has been a part of an ongoing project, partly funded by Innovation Norway Tr?ndelag, and we already see some results. So we will be back next year, and as I promised Kjell Erik Brekke; We will bring more people and companies next year! It`s also funny to think that?Michael B. Jones?was the first non-Norwegian I met after I started at Ocean Autonomy Cluster in March 2020, and I got an invitation to Blue Tech Week in November 2020. So, it was about time I got to attend the event in person.
TMA BlueTech? BlueTech Week Day 4 included a pivotal event “Bridging Gaps - Ocean Resilience Summit” ?? at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography (SIO) in La Jolla, CA. The high-energy day convened global leaders, practitioners, scientists, stakeholders, and funders to discuss and drive forward initiatives to enhance #sustainability and #coastalresilience of our oceans and coastal ecosystems. Margaret Leinen Ph.D. opened the day as the venue host and keynote speaker. Margaret is a renowned global leader and researcher, and as the Director of SIO she continues to advance ocean-based innovation in the San Diego region and she has forged strong regional, national, and international partnerships with many organizations, including the Port of San Diego. The Port is proud of our multi-year partnership with SIO. Later in the day, I had the privilege of moderating an energetic, insightful, and fun panel “Strengthening Coastal Resilience by Innovating Coastal Planning,” with Sarah N Giddings, Julia Chase, and Chris Cornelisen. The panelists shared practical research and tangible pilot project solutions from California ???to New Zealand ????, as we strive to “think globally, plan regionally, and act locally.” Chris Cornelisen inspired the audience with the New Zealand delegation’s themed t-shirt, “Big Ocean, Big Opportunity, Big Responsibility.” If you are interested in learning more about the San Diego region’s critical role as a hub for Blue Economy innovation connect with one of our many amazing local partners: Matt Classen Vanessa Scott Paula Sylvia Zach Birmingham, MAS-IA, PMP Phil LeBlanc Laura F. Rodriguez Harker Greg Murphy ?? and many others. #BlueEconomy #OceanInnovation #OceanOptimism #SDG14 #StartUps
Another TMA BlueTech? Week in the books! This week we discussed #water technologies, scientific advancements, partnerships and community to drive meaningful change—bridging local impact with global relevance for a brighter future.
And that's a wrap for our 16th Annual #BTW2024! Thank you to our sponsors, speakers, moderators, exhibitors, and partners for making this week possible! #tmabluetech #bluetech #conferences #sandiego
Yesterday’s demos for TMA BlueTech? Week were very impressive! We got to see swarm operations from HavocAI, paired with remote deployment demonstrations using Crow Industries tracked robot. Both shared the same control interface! Edward Larson, PMP, MIB was kind enough to share his experiences developing autonomous obstacle avoidance capabilities using computer vision for Tampa Deep Sea Xplorers very capable and affordable UUV. Too many cool innovations for one post, more to come! #bluetechweek #bluetech #ROV #USV #UUV

Great job by Nortek’s own David Velasco both moderating and presenting at TMA BlueTech? Week. This has been valuable to hear about initiatives from both mature and start-up companies within the blue economy. Topics have included advancing technology for maritime domain awareness, port infrastructure, climate monitoring, and sustainability - among others. I would highly encourage our industry partners to consider participation with this group for future events! #BlueTechWeek
Echoing Jason as Part 1 of TMA BlueTech? #BlueTechWeek brought together the San Diego regional ocean innovation leaders from the Port of San Diego, NOAA Technology Partnerships Office, Defense, Industry and #StartBlue Scripps Institution of Oceanography & Sullivan Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation UC San Diego to connect with global blue tech cluster innovators from Taiwan, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, UK, and more to discuss how we can collectively work together to advance technologies and solutions to address maritime decarbonization, defense, and climate resilience.
