Governor Ademola Adeleke Imposes 24-hour Curfew on Warring Communities The governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke has declared a 24-hour curfew on the trio of Ifon, Ilobu and Erin Osun communities. This is predicated on the age-long dispute between the communities that escalated to arson and displacement of residents. The conflict initially began between Ifon and Ilobu before an extension of the melee to Erin Osun on Friday, March 21. The dispute is believed to be land related.

NETUMBO NANDI-NDAITWAH INAUGURATED AS NAMIBIA'S FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT Friday, the 21st of March saw congratulations and cheers pour in from all over the world to Namibia on the historic inauguration of Her Excellency Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as the country’s first female President. The event also coincided with the 35th anniversary of Namibia's independence. She also becomes the fifth head of state and inaugurated at an occasion of leaders from different parts of Africa and the world.

Supreme Court Affirms Samuel Anyanwu as Legitimate PDP National Secretary The Supreme Court has delivered a victory for Senator Samuel Anyanwu, reaffirming his position as the legitimate National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The Court overturned the December 20, 2024, ruling by the Court of Appeal in Enugu, which had upheld a High Court decision that removed Anyanwu and recognized Sunday Udey-Okoye as his replacement. Dissatisfied with the appeal court's judgment, Anyanwu challenged the decision at the Supreme Court, arguing that both the Court of Appeal and the Enugu High Court lacked jurisdiction over the PDP's internal matters, asserting that party leadership and membership issues are non-justiciable and should not be adjudicated by any court.

FULL-TIME HND GRADUATES CLEARED FOR NYSC MOBILIZATION: MINISTER OF EDUCATION ANNOUNCES RESOLUTION The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Olatunji Alausa, is pleased to announce the resolution of the long-standing issue regarding the mobilization of Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Following a dialogue with the Director-General of NYSC, the Minister confirmed that only full-time HND graduates are eligible and can now proceed with their mobilization. This development marks a significant breakthrough for full-time HND graduates who were previously excluded from the NYSC program. It underscores the Federal Ministry of Education’s commitment to equity, fairness, and inclusivity in the nation’s education system. However, those who did HND part-time are not eligible for mobilization at all. To facilitate a seamless mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has been directed to expedite the collation of data for eligible HND graduates. In line with this, a circular has been sent to all Rectors of Polytechnics, instructing them to upload the necessary graduate data onto the newly created HND admission portal. Dr. Alausa emphasized that NYSC mobilization is strictly for those who completed a full-time HND program, stressing that only full-time HND graduates will be mobilized, while those who did HND part-time remain ineligible. He further disclosed that the newly created portal will ensure proper documentation of full-time HND graduates and serve as the official database for NYSC mobilization, addressing past challenges related to admission records. The Honourable Minister urges all eligible full-time HND graduates to take full advantage of this opportunity and proceed with their mobilization without delay. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to fostering equal opportunities for all qualified Nigerian graduates and ensuring their contributions to national development through the NYSC scheme.
