I met Rashard at church when he was a student at Clemson in 2008. Now he has his own business where he is pouring into young people's lives. (10-6-24) By J Malott - UCDH grad student - Negotiation class assignment - Read Sharp Leadership - Overcome Diversity To Lead With Authenticity Theme/Principles: The principles are self-awareness, communication skills, and resilience. How we use these for negotiation is being able to empathize with other people and understand our standpoint. When understanding our standpoint is know limitations and goals set. Empathizing with others is reading the room and the parties' different emotions to be able to find common ground. Communication skills are important in negotiation and being a active listener. Sharperson discusses that his father told him to listen, because if we don’t listen all the way we might not be getting knowledge or opportunities. When listening activity helps understand parties' perspectives know their points and create common ground effectively. Resilience helps with set backs that can happen in negotiating. And creating a strategy creates resilience. Being able to be flexible in creating solutions helps satisfy both parties and the needs that need to be resolved.
