Very happy to share this brand board for the small business I've been working with for the last few months. The client is a well-established home/office painting contractor and handyman in the Greater New Haven area and has been looking to both expand and tie all of his sub-businesses/brands together for future endeavors. After an audit of everything he already had in the way of visual identities across his smaller businesses/brands and after constant communication about his business goals, we decided that building his Jay Kaye Services parent brand first was the most important task. Because the client wishes to sponsor other groups in the future and wishes to be very publicly visible, I decided to create a simple Wordmark logo that can be easily transferred to printed items like shirts, hats, swag, etc., both in color and in black and white. I then used elements of the Wordmark logo to create a simple, easily recognizable Submark logo variation to use in place of the full logo when needed, again in both color and black and white as to allow for printing options when necessary. I used the help of hashtag #Adobe Generative Ai to develop simple brand icons and then customized each icon to fit the brand vision. Because the client's number one goal was to convey trust in his brand, I used a very simple, clean primary color palette in softer, muted but still bold tones to provoke a feeling of action and energy, but also of warmth, comfort, and reassurance. The client wears a lot of Plaid so I wanted to include a nod to his personality by incorporating a subtle plaid visual that also could be interpreted as a paint swipe or a stretch of painter's tape. This is a work in progress as the client has much more we are working on tying into the parent brand, which I will share more of as I go, but I'm very happy with what I have created so far and so thankful for what I have learned. A big thank you to all those who also have lent their eyes to this project so far, sharing feedback and suggestions when it is needed most. #branddesign #visualidentity #adobe #adobecreativesuite #illustrator #graphicdesign #digitalbrand #branding

Looking forward to sharing more about this branding project I have been working on, but here is a peek at the logo I designed for an expanding home painting and maintenance business in Hamden. It is important to the client to radiate comfort in his brand. The client also wears a good amount of plaid flannel button-ups. I melded the warmth and energy he exudes as a person with a subtle, but not completely obvious, nod to plaid in this design to create something bold but trustworthy, and is also easily transferrable to printed products like T-Shirts, hats, embroidered items, etc. #BrandDesign #BrandIdentity #GraphicDesign #Branding #Adobe

In LOVE... ...with this adorable logo I designed for a client over the summer. They are a "cozy gamer" on the streaming platform, #Twitch, and they asked me to create a logo for their streaming channel. I prepared for this project by watching their streams to understand their gaming personality and interests and then learned more about the games they played, observed the posts they shared on their social media, and researched similar cozy gamers' aesthetics on the platform. I learned about / utilized the #Adobe Illustrator #TouchType tool to adjust the kerning and leading on individual letters to give it a hand-made feel and also learned about mixing outlines with drop shadows to give the text a multi-dimensional feel - it reminds me of early 90’s toy packaging design. The color palette of this project was curated with color palettes they told me they were interested in but was mostly pulled directly from the games they posted videos of themselves playing. I honestly was a big fan of their #StardewValley videos because of the calm game sounds and see why it's called #cozygaming #graphicdesign #logodesign #newhaven #northhaven #wallingford

I don't remember too many details from Lemony Snicket's book "A Series of Unfortunate Events", probably because the unfortunate events that happen to the kids in the book make me feel bad, which I'm pretty sure is the point, but that's a whole different post. BUT - I have always remembered and resonated with main character, Violet Baudelaire for her resilience in the face of constant misfortune or challenges. Throughout the series, her motto is, "There's always something". She says this while reflecting on the fact that, despite all the challenges and unfortunate circumstances in the story, there is always something that offers a glimmer of hope, no matter how small - or there is always something to fashion into nearly any device, for nearly every occasion. The theme of resilience has stuck with me since I read that book years ago because there really is "always something" - always something you can use to fix something broken, always something you can fashion or create to make something else work or make it easier to learn or use. There really is always something to get you forward, up, out, or through if you look for it and apply creative curiosity. There is always a way to make something work if you keep looking around for it. To apply this to a recent situation, a client was disheartened about not being able to secure a new media system they thought they needed in order to run a digital campaign I made for them. Instead of giving up on the project, we examined the resources they did have and found that we had everything we needed already. The client wanted to run the digital ad campaign on the monitor in their store, but could not afford to buy new technology to connect to the monitor in order to run the slides. After looking at everything in their physical media center, I found a #Roku device that was not being used. With my experience of having a Roku at home, I knew that Roku offers video and photo streaming apps and services. Instead of buying a whole new monitor and laptop to run the digital campaign in-store, I created a video of the ads in #Canva and then uploaded it to the store's hashtag #YouTube account. I opened the Roku's Youtube app and set the campaign video to loop and voila! What was not being utilized - monitors, graphics, technology - was finally being put to use and the marketing they were needing was finally being performed. So, in conclusion, there really is "always something". I will make a tutorial on how I looped the ad campaign video to run on the monitor, but here is the short unlooped video for reference:
