Last week we attended ADCOLOR Conference and Awards and AFROTECH - two incredibly important organizations devoted to inclusion and representation in our industry. We've been comparing notes on some of the most impactful insights from both, all of which hone in on the themes of advocacy, authenticity, and action: ? Feeling uncomfortable is often a sign that we’re doing the right work. ?There is a tangible impact between DEI initiatives and revenue growth — strengthen DEI initiatives by connecting them directly to business outcomes. ?Develop a DEI initiative framework that includes measurable goals, allyship training for leadership, and resources for mental health and resilience, ensuring sustainable advocacy within the organization. ?AI-powered reporting, people analytics, and predictive modeling can drive significant improvements in employee experience and organizational performance. ?Expand the tent! While dismay and disappointment are palpable, now is the time to invite those who question or ridicule diversity and inclusion to experience the type of content and conversations this event delivers. Big thanks to Ronnie Dickerson Stewart and all of our on-the-ground Tinuitians, including Ronnie D'Amico, Whitley Johnson, Devin Kates, and Leah Knight.

Two of the ad industry’s buzziest topics have generated yet another deal: generative AI and ad curation Cognitiv and Index Exchange became the latest companies to partner on another way to use deep learning algorithms and large language models for programmatic media. Tinuiti's Simon Poulton spoke with Marty Swant from Digiday about how AI curation could help give advertisers and publishers more control that's especially needed in the current era of black-box automation. “Now we’re in this sort of maturity of space beyond the mad scientist era of, ‘Hey wouldn’t it be cool if we could do this’ to this is now a reality,” Poulton said. “There is still this big thing I do think about: the chasm-crossing moment of the degree of control we’re going to relinquish within these environments.” Read more: https://lnkd.in/eKyMfGmA

As Digiday's Krystal Scanlon reports, "Bluesky has emerged as a surprise winner in the wake of this month’s presidential race." And ads or no ads, the questions from advertisers about Bluesky Social have become much more frequent since the election. "With no formal advertising right now, most of the conversations are exploratory," said Tinuiti's Jack Johnston. "That way, if Bluesky starts asking for ad dollars in the future, they already understand the difference between ads on Bluesky, Threads and X and what that future looks like." Ads are making their debut on Perplexity AI this month, but as Digiday reports, some advertisers have expressed reluctance to invest. That being said, some marketers see Perplexity AI as an "answer engine," not a traditional search engine. Tinuiti's Michelle Merklin agrees: "They’re [Perplexity AI is] actively discouraging advertisers from thinking in terms of ‘clicks,’ and stressing that there’s going to need to be a lot of trust and comfort between early advertisers and Perplexity given the nascency of their pilot experience."
