Teamwork in action! ???? The TPF Trail Team joined forces with JEA and Talbot Island State Park rangers to tackle a cleanup at Ft. George Inlet. The St. Johns River is one of Northeast Florida’s most important natural resources, but it needs our help. Litter and debris don’t belong in our waterways, and we’re doing something about it. Thanks to an incredible collaboration, the pollinator garden at Tillie K. Fowler Regional Park is coming to life! ???? ?? An Eagle Scout built the new garden bed border. ?? The Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society provided pine straw mulch and topsoil. ?? A Viva Florida grant from the Florida Wildflower Foundation funded beautiful native plants from @Amelia’s Native Wildflowers. ?? Stephanie Dunn of @Cadence created a stunning site plan to guide the project. ??? The new interpretive path around the nature center is now complete, making it even easier to explore this beautiful space! Recently, about a dozen Timucuan Parks Foundation Trail Team volunteers planted all of the new pollinator plants in about an hour! Huge thanks to Park Naturalist Supervisor Jolie Friedrich for leading the way, along with our partners at Ixia Native Plant Society. Looking ahead, we’re working with Duval Audubon Society to make the nature center windows more bird-friendly and are planning for interpretive signage along the new trail. ?? This project is a perfect example of how community, conservation, and collaboration can make an impact. What looked like a light cleanup at first glance turned into a haul of more than a dozen full bags of trash after a few hours of digging deeper into the “jungle” and along the salt marsh edge.
