"Feed people, not landfills." That's the (amazing) motto of Rust Belt Riders in Cleveland that takes food waste from the community and composts it to make soil blends for gardening, keeping vegetables and fruit on the table and out of landfills. #OhioTheHeartOfItAll #Compost

Yes, Ohio cannabis is certainly in a "goofy" situation! Tilth has seen a drastic increase in marijuana home growers, but others who have never grown cannabis - but are incredibly interested, are still waiting for a more official announcement from Ohio's government. "To plant or not to plant?" What're you seeing in your work as related to the Ohio's current cannabis grey area? https://lnkd.in/eziyBqVN

Resource, not waste!
6,456,669 Pounds of Material diverted in 2023! "...We are here hoping to imbue that challenge the worn hands and hours of the composter, the truck driver, the person hacking away at a computer keyboard, the community garden tender’s tattered gloves. Not reflected here and yet also very much so are the number of hours thrown into the compost pile of making sure the work gets done, the number of hours our community members took to collect what we have all in the past tossed into the garbage bin to be a weight somewhere else, where we have helped to stoke the notion of “other”. The number of hours that hands spent digging deep into the soil and planting seeds with the hope and faith that what we truly have is here, with one another, that these connections to our food, our communities, our health and one another are one and the same, where our resiliency and joy are fed in an uncertain world. The number of maggots and flies that helped to digest our organic material back into the summer’s juicy cherry tomato. The number of times a community supported compost toter lid was thrown back at a drop off site and filled with the remembrance of tomorrow." Read more >>>> https://lnkd.in/eatGsfwu

OCHBS.COM | OCT 4-5 | IX CENTER Ohio is officially #24. Adult-use went became law at midnight. It's interesting to see some of the proposed Senate revisions for Ohio's cannabis regulations. The 6 plant limit per household on cannabis plants, THC concentration, and taxation are notable changes. There have been conversations about removing social equity and redirecting the social equity tax portion to police training. Let's see how the final legislation shapes up. Here are some of the proposed Senate revisions: Limit the number of cannabis plants to 6 per household, which is less than 12 permitted under Issue 2. The Senate previously proposed axing home grow entirely. Keep the maximum amount of THC at 35% for plant material and reduce it from 90% to 50% for extracts. Tax cannabis sales at 15% instead of 10% with the option of counties adding an additional 3% tax. An earlier proposal to tax cultivators was removed. Expunge convictions for possessing 2.5 ounces of cannabis or less. Individuals would need to file an application with a court. Bans advertising that targets children and requires kid-safe packaging. Apply the public smoking ban to cannabis as well. Allow Medical Dispensaries to sell Adult-use cannabis. Thanks to everyone that played a part in pushing Ohio across the finish line. Let's enjoy the moment ?? Cheers ??
