?? EUDR Reporting Obligations: What You Need to Know Under the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), operators and traders must maintain detailed records to demonstrate compliance. Key obligations: ? Operators & non-SME traders must store all due diligence records, risk assessments, and mitigation measures for at least five years after placing a product on the market or exporting it. ? Due diligence statements must be kept for five years from the date of submission in the Information System. ? SME traders must retain key records, including due diligence reference numbers, for at least five years after making products available in the EU market. ?? Streamlining compliance: Businesses that fall under other EU due diligence regulations can integrate EUDR reporting into their existing compliance frameworks, reducing redundancy (Article 12(3)). With many paper and paperboard products containing a mix of recycled and virgin fibers, businesses need clarity on how the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) applies. Key takeaways: ? If a product is made entirely from recycled material that would otherwise be discarded as waste, it is exempt from the Regulation (per Annex I). ?? However, if it contains any non-recycled material, that portion must comply with EUDR requirements—including traceability to the plot of origin via geolocation. ?? Additionally, by-products of manufacturing are generally covered by the Regulation, but recovered (waste and scrap) paper/paperboard is specifically exempt.
