We collaborated with the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration (DER) and City of Northampton, MA on the removal of Nashawannuck Brook Dam, part of the larger Nashawannuck Brook Restoration. The project looks to improve a 105-acre site formerly used as a golf course, with the goal to preserve open space, improve ecological function and resilience, and provide passive recreation. Our services included topographic and bathymetric surveying, wetland delineation, hydrologic & hydraulic studies, sediment assessment and management, permit-level design plans and memorandum, and design visualization. Our landscape architecture studio Halvorson | Tighe & Bond Studio created a landscape concept of the post-construction project area that enhances visitor experience and preserves open space with a trail connection, naturalized brook course and edge, and restored wetlands.

We recently celebrated the completion of a new 1 MGD water storage tank in Derby, CT, operated by the South Central Connecticut Regional Water Authority and designed by our engineers. Now operational, the Derby storage tank provides additional fire flow capacity, increased water pressure and storage, and improved system reliability west of the Naugatuck River. We are honored to be a member of a collaborative team with significant stakeholder involvement on such an impactful and successful project.

Ever wondered how below-grade infrastructure is inspected and repaired? Members of our water engineering team are performing a trenchless sewer rehabilitation for the Town of Webster, MA. This sewer inspection camera is being used to assess the current conditions of the pipes prior to beginning the cured-in-place-pipe (CIPP) lining process. Trenchless sewer rehabilitation is a method of repairing or replacing deteriorating sewer pipes using specialized equipment that eliminates the need for extensive excavation and minimizes disruption to the surrounding area. The CIPP process involves inserting a liner that, once cured, creates a new, seamless pipe within the old one.

We are partnering with the New Hampshire Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (DNCR) to develop a comprehensive assessment of Mount Washington State Park’s 58.8 acres of land at the summit, including natural resources, facilities, infrastructure, and areas of environmental concern. Our team is also working with DNCR and the University of New Hampshire’s Survey Center to develop a visitor experience survey. Once complete, the study will provide a roadmap for environmentally impactful projects to preserve the summit’s sensitive alpine resources, while exploring opportunities for improved facilities and visitor experience. https://ow.ly/sH4S50TA8zH
