It's always exciting to work with the Entreprenuership Program at one of my HS Alma Mater's (yes, I went to 3 HS's), Franklin Heights High School in Columbus, Ohio and support Rebecca Gladden which heads up this program. Thanks to Christy Scott, the Executive Director of Uncharted Learning, NFP | INCubatoredu and her team for coming to Columbus from Chicagoland to visit Franklin Heights to help with the students pitches of their First Semester "New Company / Product". Several others joined and I am encouraged by the efforts the students gave, and the level of volunteerism which is behind our future leaders! Let's keep reaching our youth to develop and direct for their future success!

Fail.?Fail.?Succeed. Seven years ago, I closed the doors to my first business.??I had failed.?And I felt shame. The worst part was having the tearful conversations, telling those who believed in me most.??My wife, my parents, and my team. At the time I didn’t care about learning anything from my failure.??I just wanted to move on. A year later I was back on my feet, working in engineering, and began the process of rebuilding my confidence. After two years I was offered a position in business development.??This opportunity forced me, for the first time, to reflect on my past failure with honesty. I was an engineer.?This is where I felt safe, and I never took ownership of sales.??If I’m being honest, sales scared me.?I was also never effective at marketing.?The stories I told were focused on our products, not on our customers.?This was a big mistake. Even though I felt unqualified and unprepared, I accepted the new position.??For the next five years I focused on sales and marketing. At the end of last year, I left this job, after which I decided, again, to start a new business. We all get knocked down.?This is guaranteed.??Success on the other hand is never certain.??The only thing we control is whether we choose to get back up and try again. >>> What is your favorite failure??One that made you stronger, faster, smarter? <<< --------- On Monday, April 8th I will launch a new business called World of Can Making. It is built on the belief that being a Can Maker is something to be proud of. And this is what we stand for: 1 – *Hard Work Matters 2 – Help Lift Others 3 – Be Curious 4 – Always Improve 5 – Fail.?Fail.?Succeed. *But taking a break is just as important.
