The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), was founded in 1992 in Silicon Valley by a group of successful entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and senior professionals with roots in the Indus region. There are currently 13,000 members, including over 2,500 charter members in 56 chapters across 13 countries. TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education. Dedicated to the virtuous cycle of wealth creation and giving back to the community, TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs. The foremost and most widely known event that TiE hosts is TiEcon, which is the largest professional and networking conference for entrepreneurs. TiE Houston is proud to congratulate the TiE U team from the University of Houston and Houston Community College that won the top prize in the Business Innovation track. Andres Lopez and teammate Luka Neal formed the winning team, S.L.A.P which stands for the Student Local Adaptation Program. Team S.L.A.P developed a solution to connect skilled students with local businesses for mentorship in essential digital skills. We'd also like to highlight Dr. Ravi Brahmbhatt, TiE U Global Co-lead, for his mentorship and guidance of local student teams. Thank you, Ravi!

This week, Cemvita's Tara Karimi joined TiE for a panel on sustainable innovations that expand beyond energy. Discussions included a wide range of active developments in upcycling wastestreams, regenerative agriculture, water preservation, sustainable chemicals, mining, and carbon utilization. We greatly appreciate our hosts at TiE Houston, Amir Eskafyan and Ramachandra (Ram) Shenoy as well as our copanelists: Vinita Gupta of TerraSolve Technologies Russ Conser of Standard Soil, PBC Federico Marques of Moonflower Farms Wendy Rentschler of BMC Software We were so delighted to learn that thanks to Wendy Rentschler's leadership, BMC Software planted five trees for each attendee at the event - That's 410 trees in total!

Earlier this week, I had the privilege of joining the "Beyond Energy: Expanding Climate Action Horizons" panel, hosted by TiE Houston at the beautiful Houston Arboretum & Nature Center ?? We explored innovative climate strategies for business, shared impactful sustainability initiatives in industry, and inspired deeper reflections on living more sustainably—actions that resonate locally and globally. On behalf of BMC Software, I’m proud to share that we pledged to plant five trees for every guest, supporting the planting of 410 trees through One Tree Planted, thanks to our 82 amazing attendees. ???
